Re: Sargent Seat Opinions

+2
Bought used Sargent from another member here, good seat for the past 12 years, and continues to serve on Rockster1 under new ownership.

Don't have one yet for Rockster2, but in my Christmas list.

Re: Help Please - Ignition & Lighting 2003 R1150R

... So,does that mean if the bulb burned out the alternator wouldn't generate, and because the bulb was burned out you might not realize it until the battery went dead in BFN? That's NG! If anything in that charging lamp circuit was broken (bulb, wires, connector etc), then bulb would not illuminat...

Re: A Few Loose Ends

As I find my way around this new (to me) bike I found (rather obviously) 2 wires coiled in the tool roll space under the back seat. The ends are insulated but I wonder what they can be there for - perhaps an optional under seat courtesy light! More inexplicable is the small socket plug I found (att...

Re: Help Please - Ignition & Lighting 2003 R1150R

I changed instrument lights to LED also (except for alternator bulb, of course) Why not change out the alternator bulb, too? At start, alternator needs +VDC at terminal D1+ to energize coils and begin generating 3-phase AC power. That +VDC is sourced from battery >> ignition key switch >> Fuse 1 >>...

Re: Help Please - Ignition & Lighting 2003 R1150R

Fingers crossed. Been changing to LED for instrument lights. I changed instrument lights to LED also (except for alternator bulb, of course) and they worked great, still working fine for my brother as new owner. Will do same to my Rockster2 eventually, although the cool effect I got on white Editio...

Re: Help Please - Ignition & Lighting 2003 R1150R

Had a look this morning - the Lic. plate unit has hardly any room to check anything - well and truly attached to very short wires...the bulb was OK but not enough room to check the holder...perhaps the whole unit detaches but seems to be very tightly held by those wires with very little slack! Plat...

Re: Help Please - Ignition & Lighting 2003 R1150R

...High Beam Headlight is fine, so are the side lights but I don’t seem to be able to find Low Beam Headlight anywhere. Checked the bulb; both filaments work & everything else seems to be OK but with ignition on and after starting engine the Low Beam does not operate. As there isn’t a fuse is t...

Re: Downsizing Tires

The 160/60 will work. I have been on the road and faced having to use that size on my rockster to finish a trip. The rockster come w/180/55. Didn't change the handling as I recall but the difference in diameter will cause speedo error to change... I'm also a shinko fan (actually a yokohoma designed...

...haven't been riding for 30 years now. I hope in the near future, that will change. In particular, I'm interested in boxer twin air-cooled bikes. I recently obtained my motorcycle endorsement for the driving license (took and passed basic safety motorcycle course in Oregon). I think this is a per...

Re: Accessory plug on 1150 Rockstar

Ditto. Heated grips, center stand, and accessory socket were Rockster factory options. Edition 80 version lacked only the center stand. My 2nd Rockster is socket-less, but eBay provided cheap suitable used OE part to be installed tomorrow. It's winter riding season and time for heated gear under Gor...

Re: Accessory plug on 1150 Rockstar

Accessory socket and clock, Fuse 7 always hot.

OE version of panel-mount socket has round connector bodies, oval face, locking connector.

Spade terminals might indicate Powerlet version of similar socket.

Reckon I will always be devoted to our board here, but there's much to be gleaned from ADV as an oilhead guy.

The ADV thread was getting testy.

Dunno if carknut is checking here... but his experience following fuel pressure regulator replacement suggests a cause.

Its the "information age" you have to know where you are and exactly where your going('cause a faceless voice is telling you) and have a phone in your pocket(if it fits). We now add what gear your in..(sort of useless to me like the rest.....) So - particularly for the BMW boxer - how do ...

Gear indicator wouldn't help me: I've been trying to shift into that "one extra gear" on every oilhead owned since '97.

Re: One heated grip

Today was the first time to try the factory heated grips on this bike and only the left side works. Any tips on what things I should check to track down the issue with the right side grip? Back in the day, the common R1150** problem was wire break at outside end of RHS heated grip: not enough slack...
