Tragic Death of Two Riders North of Phoenix

Hi All - Terrible news over the weekend on the roads North of Phoenix. Two local riders, Cord Jemison and Victor Beard, killed in a two-bike crash on a group ride. Here is the post I put up on the RT board: __________________________________________ This one hits very close to home. Victor was ridin...

Note to self: Don't drive Smart Car head-on in to a concrete wall at speed. Thanks for the heads-up. Actually, we don't have these little wheelchair/automobiles here in the US, but I am always amused by them on my trips to the UK, until I see them out on the open highway with all the real cars, when...

So, what kind do you have Bob? I have an Italian-manufactured Beretta 92F which was my service weapon when I was a federal agent (I was a firearms instructor, so I could qualify with and carry my personal weapon), and a S&W Model 60 I used as a backup weapon. The Model 60 has a broken hammer sp...

Re: Riding in Cold Weather II -- The Bike

Rode 120 miles yesterday with temps between 28-38F. The road surface was mostly dry but moisture in the roadbed had frozen in places and created [REAL] black ice (not the fake sheet ice that Americans bemoan). I know this isn't constructive, but it's true and I can't resist: :smt077 Rode 280 miles ...

Changing the sprung weight, like the riders pot belly, will affect performance, but if you are looking for more bang for your buck, look at unsprung weight, like wheels. The principle applies more to a sport bike from a practical perspective, as a heavier touring bike really should have some stout w...

They would give test rides at any time you ask, I just like to do it on open house days as since I am not intending to buy right now, I don't like to waste anyone's time. But open house days, I'll demo anything! Surely theres a BMW dealer in Pheonix area that does open house demos. Hey Rob - We hav...

Re: Test rides at Browns Motor Works (Pomona, CA)

Hey Rob - Thanks for the post. Sounds like you had a great time and got to ride some nice iron. What was the format of the rides - did they give you a route to stick to? Were they accompanied or unaccompanied rides? Just curious. Were they dealer bikes? My &)()!#&!!! dealer won't let me test...

You are hereby an honourary Brit, Bob. Thank you sir, I am honored, although my true cultural heritage is all Southern European. "Twat" is also acceptable. You know, I hear my British business partners (we have a strategic alliance with a group in London) use this term as well, although f...

Jonothan, I think you are right about the bad-ass wanna-be types. (Is there an equivalent term for "bad-ass" in the UK?)
Not to steal "Dr. Jon's" thunder, but I think the term would be "wanker".
