Man

I'm from Albuquerque, but never did much riding there. I've had two mates crash there, one seriously. He, too, was in a coma for some few days. He has recovered, but given up riding. He was very skilled, and very smart. He made one mistake. The other friend and riding buddy who crashed in NM went do...

Funny

Y'know, I had just come to the conclusion that the 'Stich was going to have to be washed for the first time in 3 years. Then I spent last Saturday riding most of the day in (sometimes driving) rain and now the issue's moot! Better question is whether or not I'll wash the GS this year... Cheers, -rkd

If ya needs to...

Race, Patrick. Seriously. I've got a buddy moving up to lightweight, selling two completely prepped GS500s and a ton of spares for $3k. You can get into a single bike for less than half of that. In Ultralights you can get 3+ weekends out of a set of tires at most tracks, races fees and gas for a wee...

Makes sense to me

Selling your bike w/no immediate plans to replace it? I'm surprised you didin't have a grand mall seizure (mini-mall?). For now you'll just have to be our philosopher/poet on feet. I've had great luck with the peony recently planted. It went into seriously sandy, rocky soil, promptly got snowed on, ...

Wow.

Heartfelt sympathy, Patrick. Get the money wrestled into submission, take some deep breaths and then let your next bike choose you. You'll know it when it calls. No need to rush. Might take years, though that's hard to imagine in your case. Frankly, I don't care if your only wheels are on a grocery ...

No contest

Get the standard SV and some aftermarket bodywork (Sharkskinz) for the track. There is no comparison. You'll spend the cost of the SV in maintenance on the Duc, and constantly have to apologize to everybody at the track for puking oil on the race line.

goldilocks?

I've only ever used the fork lock after a brief, unfortunate experiment with disk locks. My new GS came with the OEM alarm, and I'll use that when I'm overnighting away from my own garage, but that's about it. Bee Ems are not hot targets, and if a crew decide they want yours anyway, there's not much...

Um...

I know. Prolly shouldn't have voted since I already made the switch. But I did it in the last 3 months and I've still got less (2 miles) than 1k miles on the new, Bigger Beak!

Fine. Throw my vote out.

I just wanted to keep playing with the other kids.

Good images again Mike. I, too, particularly admire the bike backgrounded by the green field. No pics of the hang gliders? We used to have an area off the river bluffs in Wisconsin labeled Hang Glider Preserve. It was a main riding route and we'd often stop and watch 'em soaring about with the Turke...

Very nice.

Sweet shots, Jeff. Looks like you had a blast. The Beak/Mt. Fuji pic is poster material. Increase your contrast a bit, adjust your color curves to richen up the red and the green (may add a wee bit of saturation in the sky) and frame that baby. Are helmets mandatory in Japan, or are Japanese riders ...

Righteous!

Nice write-up and good pics. Thanks for sharing. Good to read about the pent up Beaksters gettin' out and about again.

Had a brilliant ride myself on Saturday. No pics but I'll try and throw a paragraph in later.

Ooooh. It's good to be riding again!

Cheers,

Carrying 'em?

Dave, I'm a photographer by trade so my work cameras are Canon Mark II's (35mm digital SLRs) which take interchangeable lenses. I also use a few digital point & shoot type cameras - a Canon S10 and S40. I'm not that worried about my EOS 20D body, but my favorite glass (EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM...

Nicely done.

Brilliant. That write-up had every thing. Humor, violence, speed, S&M, tedium (humerously reported) and contented, post-nad-mashing beer consumption. Very nice, indeed. I dunno how you've been able to make a simple fastener into the modern Grail. So many other listers have made the same mod w/ou...

How 'bout these?

Let me know if you have any question. First, what are dogs' noses made of? Next, why does the feed ramp in my Bersa Thunder .380 always jam on cheap, range ammo? How does an economy pistol end up w/Champagne tastes in ammunition? Sorry, couldn't resist. Extra bio info: My Most Memorable Moment (M4)...

Bio

Rafael De May. Born in Mexico City, living in Saint Paul, MN. No, I didn't lose a bet. It just feels that way for 4 months every year... I've been riding for 16+ years, the last 3 on the R1150R. In the first part of '05 I sold my (fastest) Atlanta Blue '02 to Optimus Prime and joined the Roads...
