Go on searchtempest.com. You can do a national/regional/local search of craigslist, ebay, Yahoo, etc to see what other individuals and dealers are selling them for.

There is and old saying in the Cavalry, "Without a horse you are afoot." The same outcome applies to a Beemer with an electrical problem.

Re: Lamp warning

There is no fuse box on a CANBus system. I'd recommend checking the connections very closely.

Rock City, MT: Little known spot that gets few visitors except the local teenagers that go there to drink and neck. Not on most maps and there are no signs marking the location. 9.6 miles north of Valier, Montana along the Two Medicine River. 350 miles round trip from our spread. 13 miles of gravel ...

Re: R1200R vs. K1200R

If you do your own maintenance, then you'll be going up in the level of complexity and or cost.

The K1200s have had a few issues if I recall correctly. Timing chain tensioner seems to come to mind.

Re: Stock Seat Price

What is a good average price to expect from the sale of a good almost perfect 2007 R1200R stock seat? I just sold a low seat from an 07 for $150 plus shipping. The shipping was $50 from MT to NJ. That includes $10 for packing materials and insurance. It was sent the cheapest postal rate possible an...

Re: Wheel Flange recall

BMW revoked those engines made in China and returned them to be made in Austria. Would like to know why you think that. I believe since 2011 they are assembled by Loncin in China instead of Rotax in Austria, but still using parts manufactured by Rotax in Europe. Have seen nothing that changed that.

Pretty sure it is the G650 engines being made in China. Have not heard of any significant issues with quality.

Re: Parabellum Scout mounting drawing ?

I'll have to check to see what I have in my files when I can get to my shop. I have a parabellum on an 08 as well. If I cannot produce the instructions, then I can at least provide some pictures.

Re: Is the electrical / charging system really this wimpy?

two weeks of inactivity, and mine is sluggish. 3-4 and it might click... I have a charger, but I don't like keeping anything on a charger 24-7. So I put just mine on a day before I'm going to go ride if it gets like that. As long as it doesn't go way down into undercharge, they usually last. Large ...

Re: MRA X-creen w/ Cee Baileys Sport Shield?

I have the MRA screen on two bikes, but not my R12R. I have the touring size on my FJR and it works well. I have it bolted on rather than clamped. The bolt on version gives you a much larger range of adjustment options. Spousal Unit has a Sport clamp on version that she moves between her F650GS and ...

Re: Adventure riding on a R12R?

The guy you want to ask is Joe Finn, aka "Lost Rider" here. He travelled MANY MANY thousands of off-road miles in places GS guys were afraid to go with his '07 R1200R. IIRC - Joe used Pirelli Scorpions. If you do a bit of searching here, and on ADVRider - you'll find some stories with won...

Re: Adventure riding on a R12R?

I bought my R while living in Alaska and have used it a fair amount on dirt roads. I have a friend that lives in AK still and she has been to Deadhorse and Inuvik on her R. My friend and I have used Dunlop 616s with good results, but they are no longer being produced. The Avon Distenza was a good di...

The second spark plug in each cylinder improves the uniformity of combustion and greatly reduces the occurrence of the surging that was an issue in some oilhead bikes.

Re: 2011 and on R1200R has a breather plug on FD???

The bearings in the final drive are sealed so lubrication from the gear oil is not an issue.

What does the owner's manual and service ROM for the 2011 and newer models say about FD oil volume?

They are Hepco Becker bags mounted using SW Motech mounts.
