Re: Cold weather exercise? To start or not to start.

+1what Mogue says; if you start it, it needs to come up to running temp before you shut it down. This said, the manual recommends that you not start up and idle, but rather drive off after starting. So, if you start it, you would need to ride it up to running temp. Better to leave it on the tender i...

Re: Filing DOT complaints regarding the fuel strip

Couldn't agree with John more. The fuel gauge should work. If it doesn't, BMW should fix it. I wasted an entire Saturday, this week having my fourth strip replaced on a 2012 bike. The op should note that, when the fuel strip goes, the low fuel light stays on even when the tank is full. If you forget...

Re: Clutch (and Brake) Lever Upgrade?

PSR Roll and Click shorties and regular length, foldable or standard, will be available for the 2010 and later r1200r in February; so says the PSR rep at the NYC show two weeks ago. They have much more adjustment than the usual 6 position levers ad are well made and attractive. The golding levers wo...

Re: BMW Navigator V / ios in the car

Before Garmin gets to solving the caller ID problem, it needs to work on the re-design of the Nav V that puts the power button somewhere else besides the back of the unit where it is inaccessible because it's covered by the cradle and the software issue that changes the map to the home screen when a...

Jack D. To be precise. Cheaper than gas- and higher octane! Hope this post keeps me in good standing on this forum without having to post much more.

The white skunk stiles on my Classic streamline the air over the bike, making it THE fastest in the R12R line! A scientific fact.

Re: R1200R - would it be a wise choice?

1. Yes, there is a big enough difference between the r12r DOHC bikes and their predecessors to matter. 2. No, you will not get anywhere near 72 mph. You will not get over 50mph (US gallons) unless you ride like your tires are made out if eggs. 3. There are enough windscreen options for this bike tha...

Re: Question about fuel injection and timing

It shouldn't do that. Mine doesn't. Either the Kaoko, or the installation, or something about the throttle tube is defective or misadjusted. +1. Mine doesn't either. Great for long solo rides on slab with light traffic where constant throttle adjustments are not necessary. Otherwise, I keep it turn...

Re: Can the BMW shop computer modify fuel/air ratio?

MAX BMW is a dealer; and will re-map your ECU. I had it done. Better throttle response. Better than the Booster plug that affects low RPM's only. According to the Dyno, a few more horses; but that's not what I was looking for. Only downside is the cost.

Re: best tire for bmw r1200r

Approaching 24,000 miles on my 2012 R1200r Classic. My bike came stock with Metzler z8's. Earlier in this thread an OP described the Z8's as "uneventful." With 12,000 miles of winter and spring riding on the Z'8's, in every weather ( except snow on the road) and agressive riding on slab, b...

Re: BMW Comfort Seat vs. Sargent Seat

How does the heated seat hook up? Where does the controller sit? Post pics of the seat if you have them Las. I would be getting the same seat for my Classic (heated with alpine white piping.) Thanks, Barry Pics in a day or two. The controller, which is currently on back order so it wasn't sent with...

Re: BMW Comfort Seat vs. Sargent Seat

I own my sargent seat for about 12k, it looks great, it's very comfortable for longer rides. Only think I can complain about is that is a bit slippery, especially for my wife. When I break little harder she slides forward and I slide all the way to the tank ;) No doubt it's a great seat I just wish...

Re: BMW Comfort Seat vs. Sargent Seat

I have both the comfort seat and the Sargent. I did find the comfort seat pushing me forward. It was the principal reason I made the switch. The Sargent is as comfortable as the comfort seat- I never found the comfort seat to be uncomfortable- and it doesn't push me forward. Mine was made for my r12...

Just ordered a new insert to replace mine- cracked on my last little trip to Gettysberg. I don't mind the look of the cb protector but wonder if it will fit with the Wunderlich Trophy fairing. Anyone have both?
