Just wanted to say thanks!

I haven't been on the board in a _long_ time .. haven't been riding much either for no good reason.. life.. Anyway, I just changed the oil, replaced the battery and ran into an issue. I came to this site and it helped out like it has done so many times in the (distant) past. FYI, my issue was a poor...

WTB: Right side system case '02 R1150R

Had a theft in the garage and they took my right side system case. Anyone looking to part with a spare?

Re: Aux Lights

did you just mount the lights directly to the plastic pod covers - or did you mount to the more solid inner (that carries the rad) as well?? How does it affect removal of the rad covers for tank removal? They're mounted directly to the pod covers - 3 drilled holes for each lamp. They've held on for...

Re: Aux Lights

I installed these several years ago: https://r1150r.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/ChrisKnuet-PIAA-install/i-WPSvDnr I've since had to replace the PIAAs (they were damaged by a garage thief.. (long story).. they no longer make that particular model in black so I went silver) but that installation location ...

Re: More Lights

Here's a few photos of where I installed my PIAAs a few years ago. http://r1150r.smugmug.com/gallery/255921_jeJaZ#10040217_ksqzs They no longer sell (or I couldn't find) the matching black lamps (one of mine got smashed when someone broke into my garage) so I've recently replaced with the silver PIA...

Re: Several options for adding lights at the back

I have both the Kisan signal minder for running lights (I don't really care about the automatic cancellation feature). I do not have them hooked into the brake lights at all. I then have the Hyperlites for flashing brakes. I too have gotten lots of comments from folks following about how visible the...

Re: Trouble starting - bad starter?

That is a great pun - can't believe I missed it as I typed. So I had the guys at the shop give it a once over to see if my suspicions about the noise were correct and they told me that they think it's the starter and not the belt. The bike does start, and seems fine, and they said they thought I had...

Re: Trouble starting - bad starter?

Thanks for the help guys. Indeed, replacing the battery did the trick. The big pig fired up right away, no problems. Definitely saved me some heartaches of pulling the starter and monkeying around with that. Stupidly, I had just had the tank off last weekend for some other work I was doing on the bi...

Re: Trouble starting - bad starter?

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, right about now I'm feeling like a new battery is the way to go. And I'm feeling pretty stupid for not just replacing it this weekend when I had the tank OFF. Ugh. I don't know what I was thinking. I was working on some long-neglected projects which required the tank remov...

Trouble starting - bad starter?

Hey all - been a long time since I visited the site (a few years at least!) I've still got my 1150r and I'm still riding it around Northern California, just not as much as I used to - especially these days. I can't get the big pig started. Here's the backstory: More than a year ago I started getting...

Horrible news indeed. My thoughts go out not only to Scott and Nancy but to all of the fellow riders on this and othre boards for their continued safety.
