Re: Replacement tires for Rockster

I've run through a two sets of the Pilot Power 2CTs, one set of Pilot Roads, one set of Metzeler Z6s one set of Metzeler M3s. I am currently scrubbing in a set of Metzeler M5s. The M5s, like the M3s, have a nice round profile on the front that gives me a sense of progressively rolling into corners/t...

Re: Another Ohlins thread

What exact customisations did they make? I assume they did something about the different overall lengths?? I provided them with the specs for the Rockster shocks, from an old Ohlins catalogue, they confirmed with Ohlins USA and set them up to ensure that the bike maintained stock geometry while adj...

Another Ohlins thread

Hi guys, I am finally putting my Rockster back on the road after 2 1/2 years. Prior to parking the bike, the rear shock gave up the ghost after 67k kms, approx 38k miles. As you all know Ohlins stopped making kit for our bikes a while ago, so I had a local suspension shop tweak a pair of Roadster sh...

Re: Brake pads for 1150 Rockster

I am currently using EBCs, but can't comment on their longevity - just installed 3000 km ago. They certainly work, as they helped me perform an accidental stoppie while avoiding someone who cut me off and promptly hit their brakes. I also get them from a friend for a substantial discount, so I am no...

Re: Technical ??? - DJ's Canectomy

My suspicions were correct, it was diagnosed yesterday as a failing coil. Should have the bike back for the weekend.

Re: Technical ??? - DJ's Canectomy

Thanks. The cat & O2 sensor are still in place. I have put the muffler back on to debunk his contentions, and have pretty much succeeded at that. I will likely drop by the shop again today for further diagnoses.

Technical ??? - DJ's Canectomy

I have recently performed the canectomy, and now I am experiencing what I think are ignition related difficulties, manifesting as surging while accelerating . My local service manager is contending that the can removal may be the primary factor, further claiming that I may suffer burned out exhaust ...

Re: Shock Advice Wanted

Thanks, I have not found anything definitive about those other makes, much less retailers/dealers for them, if you have any links to provide it would be much appreciated.

Should I just worry about the rear for now, or should I shoot for the pair?

Re: Shock Advice Wanted

Thanks Duke, I am riding with a pillion less often, but it does happen. I have been quoted a reasonable price for some Wilbers, but they want an extra $350 for remote preload adjuster. I have also received a not unreasonable quote for the Ohlins equivalents, but the rear comes with the remote preloa...

Shock Advice Wanted

My rear shock is fading, and I would like to replace it with an Ohlins or Wilbers unit. Does it make sense to replace just the rear, or should I do both? And do I need the remote preload adjuster?

Jerez MotoGP '08

I went to Jerez for the GP, and stayed at a hotel in the town of Villamartin, about 45 minutes away. The pix aren't stellar, but have a look anyway. John Hopkins almost ran me over, on a scooter, in the paddock. James Toseland strolled on by. Briefly talked with Randy Mamola at the Jerez airport, on...
