Re: R12 Vacuum testing
Thanks Gents, I would really like a response from the GS-911 gang in regard to if all the numbers (trim) are percentages and if STFT is a +ve or -ve duration of injection time. I expected the LTFT to increase as the AF-xied is set to a richer mix. I can not get any information on the STFT as to why ...

Re: R12 Vacuum testing
Thanks Gents, I have balanced the Throttle twice with a Harmonizer. On each occasion there was minimal adjustment required to get the smiley face ( an indication that the balance was within 25mBar ). I was just outside this range both times. Final adjustment was 3-4 mBar. The idle is constant, I spr...

R12 Vacuum testing
My GS911 is indicating a vacuum leak on my BMW R1200R 2010, on RHS CYL 1. LTFT 1 is about 1.2 and STFT 1 is 4.2 I can not recall removing anything that may have interrupted a seal, but I did install an AF-xied. Previous GS911 data with BP installed did not indicate these figures. Any thoughts on how...

Front ESA connector removal
Hi to all, I am in the process of removing the front and rear ESA shocks from R12 2012. Rear removal ( connectors ) no problems. For the front I can feel the ESA lead disappearing up under the front of the tank, but thats all. The tank has been backed up to reveal the shock top nut, any more rearwar...

Re: 600 Mile Service Question
Hi HwyChile,
From memory I had only the engine oil and final drive oil changed at the 600mile / 1000Klm interval.

Re: ESA suspension upgrade ?.
Hi to All, Many thanks Caol and jkhomes for your replies. still a little undecided at this time. With 12K on the bike still time to consider many options. I will most likely keep the ESA and go with Wilbers, but perhaps Yacugar may come into the ESA market and provide more options and more competiti...

ESA suspension upgrade ?.
Hi to All, I have been toying with the idea of upgrading my r1200r 2012 suspension. Many forum reports suggest that the stock shocks can be improved significantly. Amongst many things I am a complete novice in regard to suspension, but ongoing searches and reading makes for increased interest. The R...

Re: Replacing the alternator belt on the Roadster.
Dear Tinytrains, I read a number of threads about the belt replacement. Loose NEW belts, now are slightly shorter and tighter, all the old tricks nolonger seem to apply. I bit the bullet and shelled out for the all new and shiny 'put me on easy just like the pros do and charge big bucks', tool. If I...

And I thought the Booster Plug was a little pricey.......at $380 the AF-X`s improvements must make for some interesting reading.

Re: EFI Mods
Hi to All, I did purchase the Booster Plug and found a significant (to me) improvement in the low speed throttle response. Fuel improvement ? possibly not and not expected if the ratio is artificially richened. The Accelerator must be easy to install, the most awkward portion of the Booster plug ins...

Thank you to everyone,
Looks like I am on my own for a time. A little more investigation being required.
I will post the outcome, positive or negative.
Thank you again for all the informative input.

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
Jesus Harry....
But I am just a kid.....( albeit old).
I understand the exasperation, I really thought this would have well and truly explored. There would appear that a lot of gauges are being mounted for bragging value only, with little technical significance.
Shame.
Regards John

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
Thanks gents,
But no one from this Forum ( or Google) has actually said 'If possible this is the best/ideal place/port to mount an oil and heat sensor.
Or is it a case that there is not a suitable mounting position for this R1200R.
Until I return

John

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
And Then, Not to add insult to injury. Why not use this 'new' higher temp oil return line point as the oil pressure point also. The additional oil temp and pressure sensor will be completely isolated from CANBUS and the original BMW fitted positions. A new oil return pipe ( $130.00), after modificat...

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
Dear Ammolab, I am always open to suggestions. Gut feeling tells me that the oil entering the radiator is at a higher temperature having carried out all the hard work. It is this temperature that is ( to my thinking) more critical in regard to oil performance specs. Measuring the oil leaving the rad...

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
Dear Don, Yes, that would be an ideal location. I would always prefer to measure the oil before it enters the radiator. I am a little uncertain just how to break into the circuit ( ie without cutting the black metal tubing ). Another concern would be access for a quick disassembly, returning the plu...

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
Dear David R, I would prefer to have the oil temp sensor in the line going to the radiator, but there is just no provision except for breaking into the metal tubing going to the radiator. I think my only alternative is to use the banjo ( after the radiator). Interestingly I will be measuring 'cooled...

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
O/K Bob, You are correct I have two. 2012/07,K27 0400. I did find a circuit for a K1600 that described the two paths. Lubrication picks up from sump and circulates before returning oil to sump. Cooling picks up from sump goes via radiator and returns to sump, continuously. I can only assume the path...

Thank you Bob ain`t Stoppin,
No I was not aware of this. There is so little information available ( or I have not found it as yet ) and I have just about exhausted this Forum for answers.
NOT ready to give up yet. ( Learning all the time).
