Re: The 2015 Lost R1200R

I found it frustrating choosing the factory options. On the Exclusive in the Comfort Package I don't want Chrome exhausts or TP Control, In Dynamic Package I'm not interested in Daytime Riding Lights or LED Indicators (standard indicators would seem to be quite adequate) - I would need the Touring s...

Re: The 2015 Lost R1200R

I took my 07 bike in for service and MOT (annual test) and borrowed the demo bike as a loaner. That turned out very expensive :? . I've just ordered a Sport with lots of whistles and bells. To be honest I can't really justify the expense, but what the hell someones got to get the nations economy mov...

Re: Gear selection indicator gone wonky??

On Sunday my gear indicator started missing seeing neutral . It was a poor day - 2degrees C , sleet and rain . An inch of slush on the road! This was in the north Pennines (hills) near the highest pub in England on a rideout with the Sunbeam Owners Fellowship (a classic bike club- I have a Sunbeam S...

Re: Wheel Flange recall

My bike is in for service on Thursday so I'll have to check. It is also having a pump recall mod, letter came October time-ish but I haven't been riding. I'm taking out the RR demo bike whiile the service is done. This could be an expensive loan bike experience

Re: Driveline Problem

I once had a grumbling noise from the drive area. To cut a long story short I rode home slowly and had it taken to the dealer. They couldn't find anything wrong and it's work fine ever since . I felt a bit of a wally. Perhaps gravel trapped against the disc? At least it didn't cost me anything. The ...

Re: I'm selling my 07' R1200R.

I bought another bike last week. 500cc in line twin, shaft drive, 1956 Sunbeam S8.Totally emission free, until I get the engine back in  I can't decide what to change my 07 R1200R for. I thought a 1000R would do the trick but I think 169bhp might be just a bit too much for me. Meanwhile I'll pl...

Re: R1200RW?

I fancied an S1000RR if they brought out a roadster version, but now they have I think it might be a bit too "hot" for me. There again I suppose I could always ride it in rain mode  I really love my 07R and thought I would wait until the watercooled version came out. I too like th...

Re: OEM Touring Windscreen

I have a touring screen on my 07 bike (from new). I have been quite happy with it, I'm not sure where it sends the air but it does allow me to ride a couple of hours at 90mph without much discomfort. I am a 5ft6in shortass and the bike has the factory low seat option so the wind probably whistles ov...

Re: 2014 R1200R wethead ?

My dealer offered me a new GS as a loaner whilst in for a service, but with my short fat hairy legs I couldn't cope with the seat height. Damn, I sure would like to have tried it out!

Re: How much slop in your driveline?

I once had a graunching noise from underneath/rear but couldn't see anything amiss. I rode it home very carefully and with the bike on the centrestand I ran the engine in first gear . There was some unpleasant noise but not what I had heard earlier. I had the bike taken to the dealer and they could ...

Re: Which tank bag?

I have an Oxford magnetic bag which I have used for 6 yrs on the R and 8 or 9yrs on a Honda VFR ,which I was quite happy with until a few weeks ago . I normally lift the bag leaving the strap round the headstock/thingy and just let it hang down the side of the tank. On this occasion as I swung it ro...

Re: R1200R Metisse

It wasn't what I was expecting! :( Here in the UK Metisse are/were noted for producing bike frames which were originally for motocross. The were made by the Rickman brothers. They had a stand at the big bike show in Birmingham in November. So here I was expecting a Metisse frame with a BMW engine an...

Re: Kill Switch

I'm having trouble with the ignition switch, It takes two or three turns on before the start up sequence begins. Dealer said it happened to a bike before and a new switch cured it. I'll get it done next year when it's MOT'd (yearly test). WD40 didn't do any good.

Wouldn't it have made the anniversary model even more special if it had been fitted with the new 125bhp engine? I suppose they have to leave something to tease us with. =P~

Re: 24,000 Mile Service Notes

It would be cheaper than my 24,000 service earlier this year. The yearly MOT (annual roadworthy test) and service cost £495 ($800 ?) I'm a rubbish mechanic :( As Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood) said,"A man's got to know his limitations." I must get around to cleaning the bike soon, it's been ...

Re: Changing tires today. Going to Road Pilot 3's

I put a pr2 on the front to match the rear. With the wheel out I thought I would wash the mudguard, polish it and the fork legs. There were only six bolts holding the mudguard on but the bottom bolt that screws into a lug on the fork sheared off flush with the lug  . "Oh dear," I tho...

Re: Gravity Check...

Put head protectors on before you drop the bike. When you buy some put them on straight away, you feel foolish knowing you have scratched your engine when you have covers in the garage  If you are going to drop it do it on the left side so the final drive sticky outy bit doesn't get scratched....
