Re: Battery Test

DBrick, frankly this all seems much ado about nothing. Presuming you have an AGM battery 2 years old,the fact it "doesn't seem to crank the bike as rigorously as it used to" is pretty subjective and nothing to really test against. Batteries vary, how is the charging system, is it up to snu...

Re: Old Fourm members

I can imagine. Go test ride a LC R1200R. It's incredible. I think it will be a lightly used RT, camhead, maybe a wet head. I'm surprised just how many there are on the market for some pretty short money. I'm wanting to pull a trailer, going to get a hitch fabricated and fitted to the '11 R1200r and...

Re: 2011 - R1200r - K27 - Rear Main Seal or Counter Balance Leak

I've been told that you can pivot the rear up out of the way, I think I prefer to remove the bits and see better what I'm doing. Glad you up and running.

Re: Old Fourm members

I joined in 2013, the same year that I bought my hold over 2011 R1200R. Just passed 52,500 miles coming back from the MOA National Rally Monday. The bike is running better now than ever. I've had a couple issues which though disappointing were easily fixed. Transmission input seal and counter balanc...

Re: 2011 - R1200r - K27 - Rear Main Seal or Counter Balance Leak

Sorry Mate to have not replied sooner, I check into this forum only three or four times a year. Leak free for 30k miles, absolutely no problems. Yeah its a job, but I'd do it again with no hesitation, one day if you've got all the parts. Sounds like you've got it back together, hopefully trouble fre...

Re: Transmission and final drive oil

I run Mobil 1 75w-90 in both final drive and transmission, no issues, things run fine and no particles noticed during oil changes. There are some schools of thought that you should only use gear oil's not designed for "LS" limited slip applications as this oil may over time leak through yo...

Re: Really Virginia/DC No riders today? 28 F that bad?

Two years ago coming back from Moonshine Lunch Run I ran 14 degrees from St. Clarisville Ohio to the New York state line, warmed up to mid 30's by the time I got to Maine, not terribly uncomfortable at all for this Polar Bear, but black ice on off/on ramps was a pucker experience a time or two. Spri...

Re: Rear Drive Pinion seal

I knew what you meant, piece #1. 180Nm is more than I would try and remove with a drift, I'm to much of a klutz. So what does the seal's (#3) inner surface ride on, the OD of Part #5? It appears to large to ride on any part of the Pinion shaft, if it is #5 it would seem the pinion shaft nut #4 needs...

I've seen a few Youtube video's of people removing that nut, it's not a job for a drift.

Re: FS - Sport windscreen & Crash Bars

I was the winner of the crash bars, thanks again for these. Word of warning to potential buyers of the SW Motech crash bars, the left hand side would not fit up, out of the box. The upper forward flange would interfere with a very small section of the jug preventing a proper fit. If your not looking...

Re: Rear Drive Pinion seal

I have no experience with that seal. I also have no skill when it comes to building specialty tools, your mileage may vary, I'd buy the castle nut socket. You'll need a deep well socket and hold fast bar to get that pinion shaft nut off, but you knew that. Good luck, post pictures, we like pictures.

Re: oil cooler plastic cover

I assume you mean removing the cover and running the bike. I've not, only removed to clean. I would recommend given the shape to keep in in place, any channeling of air flow into the cooler is bound to be a good thing.

Should you decide to run with out it, please post your results.

Re: Overheating?

My '11 typically runs mid scale up to 90f, stopped in traffic I've mirrored Don's technique, rush ahead and stop the engine. On my trip to SLC last July I came across US36 in Kansas temperature was 106f for hours upon end, the scale tipped up two additional bars above what I would call normal, mid b...

It felt like it had no impact and was forgotten until I read your reminder. Gary, I understand that management sets the culture of an organization, and ...

Re: Third fuel strip in 600 miles

Kobe22, Don't disagree with your position, the brand suffers from numerous issues, many of which are self inflicted right in the engineering office. I have done about the only thing available to me to do, I have the strip replaced each and every time it fails, I also get my dig's in on every interne...
