Re: winterization, trickle charge
Thanks for the advice, insights, etc. - Put the charger on her last week - it does have a red/charging green/charged indicator light on it, took about 4 hrs to go green. I'll reapply every 3 weeks or so. Usta take my battery out for the winter on my '76 R75/6 but the removal on this bike is a little...

winterization, trickle charge
Bought a 2002 R1150 R in April, put on a lot of satisfying miles, now sadly time to put it up in this Northern Vermont climate. got the Stabil in her, center stand, carpet under the rear wheel, all cleaned up. I got a BMW trickle charger with it, and having seen various posts addressing overcharging...

Re: New guy here
My 2 cents (tho' sounds like you've got your course steered) - no question this is the bike - Having possessed Harleys, Nortons and Royal Enfields this is the one. I got a 2002 with 22,000 miles on it last April, $4300 - so even if the seller does not go for your offer (seems fair to me, considering...

Oil Change questions
I"ve had my 2002 R1150R since April now and thought I'd ease into wrenching with an oil change - I read up all I could find, got the oil filter wrench and some good oil. Unscrewing the drain plug I carefully looked for the crush washer - but there wasn't one, neither on the plug nor left behind...

Re: serious bonding with a mechanical entity
this one came with a Russell Day-Long seat - My wife was not necessarily a bike enthusiast, but after sitting up behind me for a spell, said - you should get this bike. Yes.

serious bonding with a mechanical entity
Been riding since i was 16 (now eligible for medicare, you do the math) Harleys, Nortons Royal Enfields, but Beemers since the 80's - bought a 2002 R1150R this spring and never bonded with a bike like this before - feels like it's conjoined with my DNA - and a stunning visual aspect, without all tha...

Re: pushing the range limits!
Well, I've had my bike for about 4 months now (upgrade from '76 R750/5) and was surprised by the lower milage - light goes on at around 145 and I take it seriously. - tho I do look for an un-ethanol gas station if I can get there in 25 or so miles. - What's the prevailing opinion on no ethanol gas?

Re: '76 R75/6 - repair or unload?
Well, it's a moot point as it turns out - the guy I bought the R1150R from wanted the R75/6 - in spite of it's problems I was sorry to see it go, having ridden it for 20 years. But of course the R1150 is a dream. Onward and upward....

'76 R75/6 - repair or unload?
so, I'm new to the forum, but riding R75/5s and/6s for decades - now have a new to me R1150R coming home tomorrow - whoo! - the /6 has run fine for me but after it's winter nap seems the front caliper is stuck, she don't roll very well - and there's a nagging short that drains my battery and makes m...

new member - can't wait for Spring
Howdy - I was very happy to find this forum as new owner of a 2001 R1150R - my bike history is '70s Boxers, R75/5 being my last - so this is a big step up. My anticipation of Spring (in Vermont, where it tends to dawdle) is like an 8 year old on Christmas Eve. See you on the road.
