Re: 2008 F800ST Just Stalls When Riding

Check your gas tank vent hose. My bike stalled on me and then started acting funny like it was a little starved for fuel. I found the lower part of the hose 100% pinched off, bad routing. After rerouting the hose way more power, pick-up and even a little louder I think. Worth a check, good luck. Der...

I give the old style switches two years max. Then they will all have the older style switches.

Re: 2011 R1200R Classic: 2 cents after a 2-mile ride

Well since this is more about turn signal controls than than the new R1200R I will throw in my 3 cents. Starting in 1988 I got introduced to the BMW style of activating turn signals. I thought it was stupid then, thought it was stupid all the years since then. Thank god someone over there found a ro...

Re: Waiting - F800R on order

Those folks at Motorcycle Consumer News must be a bunch of retards. Don't they know neither one of these bikes are sport touring machines. One is an Enduro that sees 99.9% of its life on the street and the other a simple naked bike that gets you to work with decent gas mileage. The F800R is shorter ...

Re: Waiting - F800R on order

sweatmark, will try and post pics. Wife has a new camera and is much better with photo quality. CycleRob, this will be the first time I have ever had a bike trailered anywhere, but do not want to leave it at the shop all winter to get drooled on. The dealer is 125 miles away on flat as a pancake roa...

Waiting - F800R on order

Traded 07 R1200R last week. New bike should be here around January. Dealer is only getting 2, I don't think they will spend much if any time on the showroom floor.

Re: Corbin saddle question

I purchased a seat from Corbin for my R12R, used it one time and sold it. Poor workmanship, way overpriced, feels like there is a 50lb gold bar in there. Throws off center of balance and the weight moves the bike. Spoke with some A-hole for about 20 minutes about how it was going to be a custom fit....

Re: Reliability

Boys wake up and smell the coffee. These are not your fathers BMW, they still run. Taking your BMW out for a ride should not be a crap shoot but that is what BMW has turned it into. I have two BMW motorcycles in the garage right now, 07 R12R and 03 F650CS one for me one for her. I told her last nigh...

Re: Final Drive

Hey folks ,I have not posted for quite sometime. Have been a member since early 2007after getting my R1200R. I have been riding for over 35 years now, the last 20 on 6 different BMW models. I have always felt good about the fact that if you do your part of the routine maintenance on these machines t...

Re: Brake recall

Don- Sorry for the slow response-work, riding, grandkids, garden- you know. The plunger I am refering to is the black rubber thing inside of the specimen jar brake fluid reservoir. It follows the brake fluid down as the level drops. Keep air out of the fluid I guess. If your leaking fluid you should...

Re: Brake recall

Last Fall I noticed that my brakes felt mushy and my plunger was down on my reservoir. I marked it off to brake pad wear and topped it off as it would be in for brake service first thing in the Spring. On the way to the shop this Spring I noted that the plunger was down again, not too far, and didn'...

Re: Parts/pieces you wish you had, but no one makes

I know you said you want to make parts for the R1150R. You also said you wanted to get rich and wanted to make at least 20 in the first run. You also stated that you mostly work in metal. The item I am thinking of would usually come in ABS but I would seriously consider this item machined out of alu...

Re: Three quarter helmets....

Like many, I prefer it best when people have a chioce. For many years I seldom if ever wore a helmet but as of last spring, after picking up my R1200R I always wear a helmet. I too have a story of how a helmet saved my life or at least from sitting in a corner for the rest of my life. In the Northwe...

Slow, Hope the stock shield works for you. I have a 16" dark smoke that I use for a summer shild and also the 20" lite smoked Cee Bailey's. Both look great on the bike. The 20" really works great on the highway. I get about 40 pmg average and am ok with that since I ride the snot out ...

Several months back I was lying on the floor of my garage looking at my oil filter wondering if I had something on hand that would remove it as I was going to the BMW dealer the next day. Remembering how much it hurt to pay $30 something for one that wouldn't fit this bike. I had several caps/acorn ...

Hey, I didn't make up the term "radial tire gauge". But I do know there are several manufacturers out there that offer both standard and radial tire gauges in the exact pressure range. If they were the same why wouldn't they just say for standard and radial tires? I do know that prior to r...

I'm sure you mean 38 front 42 rear. As stated prior always check tires cold. I always have to back mine down after I get back from the dealer. They like them hard. I'm sure this saves on damaged rims. I always go 1-2 lb over norm if I'm going to be on the interstate for an extended peroid. This cuts...
