Re: Will an R1100GS Front end mount to an R1100R?

I think(not sure) the front fork on a GS is different because the bridge has to be higher up to clear the 19" wheel. The bridge on the R1100R will barely tolerate an 18" with the front fender removed. It might be necessary to use a GS telelever as well since a higher bridge means a longer ...

Will an R1100GS Front end mount to an R1100R?

I'm looking to get some extra fork travel on my R1100R and move up from a 17" wheel to a 19" wheel. Simplest solution seems to be to get the front end set up(forks, triple tree, wheel) off an R1100GS. Has anyone done it? Is it a simple bolt on swap or is there a complication I should know ...

Yes and no, they come with a very narrow bolt(and hole) for the Thruxton bars so I had a local machine shop drill out, countersink and widen the opening to accommodate my bolts from the OEM bar end weights. Cost me $30.

Re: Stage 1, project "The Shelter Dog" R1100R

I take it that the new exhaust eliminated the O2 sensor? Could not tell by the pics? What is that device sticking out between the tach and gauge cluster, GPS antenna, radar detector? I like the color, and a brownish color for the seat will look awesome. I have a 96 R and it is the best handling bik...

that looks very nice. REALLY diggin that satin bronze look!!!! unrelated note: Your bike looked familiar, I think it was your thread I was directed to, about poor mpg a few yrs ago? Im dealing with draggy brakes right now, and it was incredibly helpful. Just wondering if you had any more final thou...

Re: Stage 1, project "The Shelter Dog" R1100R

Sweeeet! I love that oiled bronze on the headlight / instrument cluster, somehow disguises the headlight bracket way better. How is the sound from the GPR Deeptone, I bet its great, did it come with a connecting piece for the Bike? After playing with several combinations of DB killers I finally got...

Re: Has anyone mounted a half fairing on an R1100R?

Well - scored a 3sp front wheel w/ rotors off ebay for $250. They're a straight swap (for a non-abs bike, anyway) So now I can run a 17" tire front & rear - I'll probably pick up a 5sp rear down the road, but for now I'm happy to get to run pr4's front & rear. Want to sell the front sp...

Re: Has anyone mounted a half fairing on an R1100R?

Wow, really tucks in nicely between the grab bar and the back of the front seat pad. I was just about to bid in an SH40 like yours on eBay but ended up winning an SH48 for less money...but I know I'm in for a challenge to make it fit as it is both longer and wider. As I mentioned, I've got a bare pi...

Re: Has anyone mounted a half fairing on an R1100R?

I love the idea of the pillion becoming a modular accessory holder. I have a spare pillion pan(took the cover and foam off), this weekend I dug out my Nelson Rigg 30/40L soft bag that I stopped using because it was so complicated to strap on to my bike and strapped it around the pillion pan and voil...

Re: Has anyone mounted a half fairing on an R1100R?

The top case is a Shad 42L I believe. I purchased an extra pillion seat, then mounted the case securely to it If you get a chance can you post a few detailed pics of the Shad(SH40 Cargo BTW) and how you mounted the base plate: Doesn't the Beemers grab handle block the key hole? I definitely wan to ...

Re: Has anyone mounted a half fairing on an R1100R?

Hey Eli, I'll swap ya front wheels! Are you serious or just being facetious? I would definitely consider a swap on the front wheels and then I'll figure out a solution for the back(I don't want to go down to 17") Let me know. Brilliant solution on the pillion, I have an extra pillion pan(minus...
