Re: F800ST for a large guy ?
Sweatmark on a couple of initial short rides I would say you are right. The bike feels very nimble and responsive. I'm about 5'11" and weigh, kitted out for riding, about 200+ lbs, so for those who are questioning comfort I would say no problems if you are similar stature. I do feel the bars ar...

Re: F800ST for a large guy ?
One more overweight old fart has decided to hop (and yes i'm still hobbling so hop is the appropriate word) onboard an F800 bike. Not entirely sure I have made the right decision, (pick it up this weekend) but when cycle rob speaks he can be heard down-under, and some of us have ears to hear. Guess ...

Re: another ones bites the dust
To answer a few questions and thank people for their well wishes, much appreciated. 1. Crash was in OZ (Australia) not India. R1150R's are available in Oz not in India to my knowledge, having said that BMW have started selling motorcycles in India now along with Hardly D's and Ducatis. 2. Mainly rig...

another ones bites the dust
It's a pity car drivers don't respect motorcyclists or at the very least obey the traffic rules.
Yes it hurt and i will be on crutches for a couple of months. Then i will be searching for another RR.

Re: Brakes R1150R
My reply isn't directly answering your question but i would suggest from my recent experience with my 2001 R1150R (ABS) that if you haven't done so it might be wise to consider upgrading your brake hoses if you still have the original hoses fitted. The rubber hoses have a rather short lifespan, (som...

Re: braided brake line supplier
Thanks for the suggestions guys however I'm not there yet. Seems the '02 R1150R with ABS is a rare bike to fit brake lines. Motoworks list only the rear line and Pashnit only have ABS lines for a R1150 GS. Anyone know if the GS lines are the same as for the RR? More suggestions welcome...though i mu...

braided brake line supplier
My original bmw rubber brake line sprung a leak, apparently not surprisingly since it's a 2002 model with ABS. Seems they should be replaced every five years according to the brake specialist I visited to replace them with SS braided lines. Now I'm based in Australia and for some reason we get to pa...

Re: Long range touring tire that would work for 2002 RT?
Either I have developed a really poor riding style, or our roads down under are extremely brutal on tyres. My rear Michelin PR2 tyre lasted less than 4k miles. I just cannot get my head around the mileage mentioned on this thread. Am i envious, you bet. Is there any others out there that churn throu...

Re: uneven tyre wear
KiwiRR Thanks for your feedback. Just need to clarify the term "nearside". I am assuming since we both ride on the left side of the road, well some of the time, then the offside of the tyre, ie the right side would be the worn side, it is on mine. This is assuming the curb side is the near...

uneven tyre wear
Any suggestions why a front tyre would be wearing considerably more on one side than the other? The tyre is a Michelin pilot road 2. I haven't bounced it off anything, and haven't had this problem with other brands of rubber. The attached pic doesn't show the extreme wear difference that is evident....

Re: Saturday Ride- Northern Japan
Thanks for posting Gaijin. Strange how one's impression of a place can be altered through other's eyes. We often think of Japan as an extremely crowded and commercially oriented; your photos depict a very different world. Who gets the job of determining the inclines?

Thanks for sharing your adventure. Great pics and amazing landscape, though not sure i would want to ride a Rockster off road, but each to his own.

Boxer do you really expect anyone to believe you have honestly ridden that many miles on that tyre? Love to see a pic of the road surfaces if true. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa263/gunga_din_om/rupee.jpg Guess I'm not going to win too many friends at Bridgestone for including the next pic. h...

Re: FD failure
I'm afraid to report it's not just a northern hemisphere problem. Just reinstalled my final drive on the weekend. This is after only 45,000 kilometres. My mechanic replaced the output bearing in the FD and this was only a year after having the paralever bearing replaced. If i were in your shoes Towe...

Re: That GD Clutch Again
CycleRob Could the pressure in this sealed clutch slave chamber add stress to seals, thus causing the fluid to leak onto the clutch plate then seep into the gearbox causing gearbox seal failure? I have heard bikes having the clutch slave chamber drilled as per your suggestion have not experienced se...
