Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Turning away from the pannier issue and back to the OP's topic about the resale value of 'our' bikes... My pal Motorcycling Mo with his adored 2004 GS Adventure in truly amazing pristine condition, was tempted the other day after seeing all the new models brought from Munich to our local Almería Te...

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Thanks Kirya, I'll give that a try. I was going on the assumption that the BMW parts guy would be looking at the same fishe that I was looking at. But hey, it's worth a try. To be honest, I want the bags as much for aesthetics as storage. Years ago I had an old airhead (R90/6) with system cases and ...

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Thanks Kirya. It is not the cost of the bags off of the GS. I would be excited to get two cases for something in the $200 range, It's a fitment concern. To begin with, none of the numbers match any of the case parts numbers that appear on the BMW parts fishe. I have used your numbers and searched th...

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

It looks like the R1150GSA bags will not fit my R1150R. The rails are different. I'll keep looking. Bobs BMW has new one for $320 each, Ouch!!

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Thanks Kirya. You posted the link at 10:22 last night, and I went after it at 6:00 this morning, only to find it already sold.
Dang it!! That sure was fast. Really appreciate your efforts. I will continue on with my quest for system cases.............Tom

Re: R1200 Engine Info

Thanks Sweatmark, your comments helped a lot. I was really hot on looking for an R1200C, but I think I will keep my 04 R1150R and spend a few bucks on it, maybe with an exhaust lowering kit, system bags, and rider and passenger foot peg lowering kits. I love the bike, but just need a little help wit...

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Thanks for the references. Understanding "system cases" and models to look for helps. I like the idea of removing the muffler, as long as the noise is not obnoxious. The thought of having more storage without going to oversize bags is inviting. I will keep on the hunt. Thanks.....Tom

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Wow! Did I get a rude awakening. I have been searching with earnest effort for system bags for my 04 R1150R; Ebay, Caraigs list, etc. There is no way that I can do this on my own. I really need some help. Most sellers don't know what they are selling, and to be honest, as a buyer, I'm not sure what ...

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Wow! I would jump at the chase if I found system bags for $100 each. I'll start watching Craigs list, but BMWs are pretty rare in Western KY. Now, if I lived in a hot BMW area, that may be a different story. If anyone finds a set available somewhere, I sure would appreciate a post. I monitor this si...

Re: Bike Value and Upgrades

Well, I guess you guys are right, and I need to think about upgrades more as a comfort need, or desirable mod or accessory, and quit thinking about it as an investment. To be honest, these Roadsters are fantastic rides, and my choice for true solo ride pleasure. I'd still like to add a couple of cit...

Bike Value and Upgrades

After seeing some of these Roadsters on the market, I am a bit disappointed at the current street value. It's looking like a nice machine will be hard pressed to fetch 3K US dollars. Wow! That is way too under priced for such a nice machine. I was considering adding city bags to my ride, but I canno...

R1200 Engine Info

I Need some help understanding. First, I don't have a lot of experience on this site as I am an R1150R rider. It is probably the nicest handling bike I've ever owned. I also have a 2000 model Honda GL1500 Gold Wing which was the last year for it. All bikes are fun, but my choice ride is my Beemer. M...

Re: R1150R Passenger Footrests

I am only planning to lower the passenger footpegs, not the rider pegs. Do you see a problem with that? I get along with the leg position as a rider, but my passengers complain about their leg strain due to the high pegs. I am hopeful that the new location for the passenger pegs will not cause any i...

Re: R1150R Passenger Footrests

Hey there EasyBee, Thanks for taking the time and effort to post pics and numbers for the foot peg lowering kits. Now I have some info to follow up with. You are right about USA pricing, compared to your side of the pond. I have not tried placing an order, but I may be able to order from Winderlich,...

Re: What octane gas do you put in?

I always use premium, and usually ethanol free, except when traveling. I have an airplane that required premium auto fuel, so I keep a 55 gal tank with an electric pump on it and fuel from home most of the time. It's hard to find, and a bit pricey, but I do find 93 octane without ethanol locally in ...

R1150R Passenger Footrests

Man I love this bike!! I just need to get the passenger footrests lowered to make it a bit more comfortable for my wife. Even though I ride it more often solo, she does come along occasionally. I've been ignoring her complaints about the high pegs, but when I took my adult daughter along on a short ...

Re: Best motorcycle in the world?

Thanks Trickytree. I think I get the picture. There just seem to be a lot of issues that come with the GS pegs, but in viewing your write up, you think that it is all worth it. I jotted you a personal message, but I think that you have answered most of my question with your post here. Thanks again.....

Re: Best motorcycle in the world?

Hey Trickytree, loved your writeup. Can you offer any info on your foot pegs. I investigated GS pegs and found that they made the center stand unusable. Do you have a fix for that.........Tom

Re: Fastway or similar footpegs for the 04-06 R1150R

I'm not sure that you are going to like standing on your pegs, that is if your 850 is anything like my R1150R. The rider pegs are very high, and not like the GS models. I will take the weight off of my seat occasionally, but I can't imagine riding very far with my butt that high in the air. You may ...
