Re: best tire for bmw r1200r

I really like the Dunlop roadsmart 2 tires. Very confidence inspiring both in dry and wet condition. In my case they last about 4,500 miles rear and about 8,000 miles front.

Re: best tire for bmw r1200r

I liked the Pirelli Scorpion but lately I have had good luck with Dunlop Roadsmart 2. They last about 1,000 miles longer than the Scorpion feel very steady in both dry and wet conditions. On my 08 r1200R they last about 5,000 at the rear and about 10,000 in the front. My tire pressure front 36 and 4...

Re: Tire Pressurr

To end the air pressue saga from my side: Here are my observations from today: Left this morning at 7:30 AM when the temperature in my garage was 79.2 degree, tire pressure at that time 36 Front and 40.5 rear. Returned at 1:25 PM. Temperaure at that time 86 degree and checked tire pressurer after ta...

Re: Tire Pressurr

Hello Don: I checked this evening the manufacturers instructions on my tires Dunlop Roadsmart 2 with R1200R sizes. At cool tire conditions at max load factors max PSI: rear 42 and front 36. Nothing is mentioned about ambient temps etc. only cool tires. Obviously if you park your vehicle over night t...

Re: Tire Pressurr

Don: Thanks for your reply. My garage is neither heated or airconditioned. The winter temps in the garage are around 40 degrees in the morning and in the summer about 80 degrees when I check the tire pressure. So I keep the cold tire pressure to 40 R in the summer and 42 R in the winter. I have neve...

Re: Tire Pressurr

In the winter when temperatures here in Texas are mostly in the thirties and low forties my tire pressure are 36.5 F 42 R. In the summer I use 35 F and 40 R since temperatures rise in the 90 to 100 degrees. I am using presently Dunlop Roadsmart 2 tires which are one of the very best if not the best ...

Re: Fuel strip

According to my dealer fuel strips are by far the biggest warranty item. On my 2008 R1200R the fuel strip has been replaced already two times. Presently my bike shows 34,000 miles.

My Shorai Battery story

Went last week to a shop to get the front tire changed. Afterwards I went to my office parked my bike. Returned after 2 and 1/2 hours noting that the ignition was in the on position and the Garmin Streetpilot was also in the on position. I thought for sure the battery would be dead. Pushed the start...

Re: battery trouble

I have also a 2008 R1200R and the original battery quit at 30,000 Miles last fall. I purchased a Shorai Battery and for various reasosn I could not ride my bike for the last 3 1/2 months. Took the bike out last Sunday for a 200 miles ride and the bike started instantly and without any problems. Can ...

Re: Fuel Gauge and Mile to Empty

I have an 2008 R1200R with 30,000 miles and I already had two replacements and according to my service station the biggest warranty item on R bikes. I put my odometer to zero after every fillup and refill at about 190 miles so no problems with running empty.

Re: Questions for those experienced in buying aftermarket sh

After reading all the stories I think the way to go is to purchase the shocks from an outfit who can also install and adjust the shocks. Since I need shocks can somebody recomend a person/company in the North Texas preferable in the Dallas area?
Thanks Peter

Re: Battery Going?

I have an 08 1200R with 30,000 miles and today my battery stopped working. I believe it is the original BMW (Exide) battery BMW part # 61 21-7 705.652 Exide # ETX14-BS. The bike was delivered 5/21/08 so I believe I got good service out of this battery. Which replacement models are a direct fit (drop...
