Re: Sydney ... any bike place to check out?

Like DJ, I'm in Melbourne. Airhead parts can be expensive down here unless you know who has a shed full and exactly what you want.

What are you after?

Just a local road, about an hour away. Corner after corner, and all over in 20 minutes. Very quiet Monday to Friday, but a beehive of motorcycle activity on a warm summers weekend. The Reefton Spur, Victoria, Australia. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee256/hansea/marysville/ReeftonSpurstart.jpg

Re: Tasmania Australia Part 6A of 6 Port Arthur Penal Settlement

I like the pics. Thanks. I found PA to be quietly eerie, and a fascinating place to visit. The night time ghost walk was an excellent experience, but I don't know if they still do it. After Martin Bryant shot 35 or so innocent tourists and locals a few years back, I suspect this place may hold a few...

Re: Day Three of my 08 Snowy Mountains Ride.

Nice pics and report DJ. It seems looking at a map, that the Snowy Mts are quite a ride south of Sydney. How many kms did ya do each day? We actually rode up from Melbourne. Night 1 @ Beechworth..around 300ks. Night 2 @ Adaminaby...around 450 ks. Night 3 @ home in Melbourne....ouch. About 1500 ks a...

Re: Day Two of my 08 Snowy Mountains ride.

Peter personally reported the accident and gravel issue to an office in Jindabyne that was open on the Saturday. We followed up during the week with online accident/road condition reports to many authorities, and I did receive a reply telling me that they had found the area, with difficulty, and swe...

http://www.mrwhippy.com.au/index1.htm I still get the occasional ice cream van around my place, but not as regularly as it used to happen. Mr. Whippy has been franchised out of the game I think...I haven't seen a real Mr. Whippy for years. A couple of years back, an ice cream operator here in Melbo...

DJ and me do an annual ride over Mt. Hotham here in Victoria, Oz. The first one (DJ may not have been on that one) was memorable for the darting in all directions from our group of bikes. The car in front was trailering a couple of big heifers on it. I was front rider at this point. I noticed one he...

The Snowy Mtn Hwy, not far from Kiandra. This bit is the straight section, open vision, high speeds across the snow plains. Well, snow plains in winter at least! If you look really closely, you'll spot some bikes on that road down there.:D http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee256/hansea/28KiandraHer...

They're great roads aren't they. From Tumbarumba, did you take Sue City to Cabramurra, then down to Khancoban? Magnificent ride.

DJ Downunder and I do an annual loop to Adaminaby via Khancoban/Thredbo, then back thru Cabramurra then home to Melbourne.

It's magnificent.

Re: After Marysville

Where else but over Reefton Spur to Warragul and Korumurra and on to Phillip Island! Great roads (had to put up with a little dirt around Eildon to find them) Tom Wouldn't that Jamieson/Eildon road be sweet with some bitumen?! Never, I say never attempt it if it's wet, unless you're a dirt bike fie...

Looked like a fun ride. I know those roads, I know those pubs, and I know that race. I don't know those blokes, but they have the same bleary eyed look my buddies have when we do something similar.

Which way did you go after Marysville?

http://www.5united.net/html/repair.html You sound like you've found a gem, but beware...calculate what a restore will cost, then triple it. One thing ALWAYS leads to another. The 50/5 was generally considered terribly underpowered, and the 75/5 was the better performer. Parts are available, ebay, pr...
