Re: Need a bigger tank!

That may be, the imperial gallons and US gallon difference could be it. However, I distinctly remember putting more fuel into my R850 than I have with the R1100. So, back to the original question of finding a source for a bigger tank. Anyone? Retrofit a R1100GS tank? - moving the oil coolers is the...

Re: Need a bigger tank!

What I remember is that the capacity issue was more a poor conversion from liters to UK gallons and US gallons and the mix up that resulted from that.

One stock number, one tank

One of the few reason I still visit this site is to see if there has been any resolution to Mikes disapearance

Re: 2001 R1100R Electrical lighting issue.

Change the headlight bulb, change the tail light bulb.

The headlight H4 bulb has hi/low function so if it works on hi beam this is the simplest check

The tail light is also a dual filament bulb - if the brake light works but not the running light it is also likely that filament is damaged

Re: Screeching sound while the bike starts moving cold

Don't recall this when I had my R1100R, however have you noticed any change in the amount of pressure it takes to actuate the clutch - I'm wondering if it is clutch groan and it needs the clutch splines lubed

I get a similar groan on my current Stelvio occasionally on cool dampish days

Re: Synthetic oil

Hi All, oh no...not an oil thread  New to this forum. Just wanted to know what type of final drive and tranny oil is being used in the R1100R? Dealer says they have been using 75w-140 synthetic. Not what the book calls out for? The book says either 80 or 90 or 80w-90 Hypoid gear oil depends on...

Biggest change I can think of is the older one probably has the M94 transmission and the other has the improved M97 transmission

Re: Recovering Jap Rider, my 1st Beemer, 1996 R1100R

I'd suggest MAXBMW for the service based upon their steller reputation

As far as the front rim - Woodys Wheel works in Denver is my first choice for such repairs

Re: Castrol 10W60 TWS..

FWIW 10W60 Aquip oil is speced in the newer Guzzis and, I believe, some of the Husky models.

The owners have the exact same arguments

Does the addition of the Corbin seat mean you loose the 3 position height adjustment on the bike?

Re: ESA and On-board Computer Thoughts

Not sure where you are but in the US ABS and ASC are now standard for 2012 - I'm not sure if you can special order without

on board computer

center stand

heated grips

tpm

I'd rather have good aftermarket shocks then spend on the ESA
