Re: Tips needed for smooth shifting
The trans. on these bikes likes to be shifted rappeddly. The faster you shift the smoother. Works for me,has to do with the type of syncrose the tans. uses.Match those rpm;s on down shift.Enjoy the bike,I love my '98. R.D.

Re: Replacement Mirrors
Yes it is,how ever you would use the factory bolt and some spacers to conect the adaptor that you would make from the flat pease of mettal. It worked for me this is what is on my bike.

Re: Replacement Mirrors
You can make adapters for any after market merror very cheeply. Get the corect size bolt and nuts (3) and go to a muffler shop they may weld the 2 nuts on top of the bolt for free. That takes care of the right side. The left side make an adapter from a flat pice of stock using the left hand thredded ...

Re: Rear Wheel Revolves ! - any ideas ?
It's just the friction in the gead box with cold thick gear oil. After driving the gear lub heats up and thins out. When you pull in the clutch it disingages the gear box. A manual trans. car will do the samething. Just a normal thing.

Re: J C Whitney Topbox
The boxes are dry, look like the real thing. How ever the latch for the led is flimsy, the latch for the mount will brake. You get what you pay for. My advice is to through bolt the box to the bike. That way you won't have to stop to pick it up from the road.I'am still using mine.

Re: stuck spark plug
Steel screwed into aluminum can sieze. I would think that it would be about 50%-50% that the threds would strip. When plugs are changed, in Al heads anti-sieze compouned must be used to avoid-eleminate this problem. Used to run into this problem from time to time when I worked in a VW service dep. i...

I woukd vote to go back to Dino oil if thats all thats going on. If its running " like a top ect" I would not tear it down for and oil weep. Ride that thing, just wipe the oil smear off.

Re: Oil indicator light.
The wire to the sender may be grounded,or the sending unit may be bad, that would make the light come on. If you been riding the bike with the oil light on and the motor ant blowed up thats what is going on.
