Re: Old Fourm members

I joined in 2007, still have my 2006 R1200R, but only 26000Km. 90% prior to 2012 when I developed end stage renal failure. During ensuing years on dialysis I managed to ride just enough to keep battery charged on the bike. Two years ago I received a kidney transplant, and am now starting to regain s...

Re: Should I Sell or Store?

Thanks for the offer Tom, I'm sure you have a nice street to park it in, but it is probably not my best option. In Sweden, we will be living in Linkoping.

"Tak" for that advice. You are doubly correct, as it will be two Swedish winters!

Re: Should I Sell or Store?

I've heard a good number of cases of leaking engine and transmission seals which are said to be exacerbated by drying out due to long periods of non-use. Whether selling is better and whether you'd lose more money by selling or by having to replace seals, I don't know. Do you have a buddy who could...

Should I Sell or Store?

I'm moving to Sweden (from Sydney) for about a year and am in a quandry about what to do with my R1200R. I am reluctant to store it for that period of time, as I have ridden bikes after they have been stored, and suffered issues like perished master cylinder seals and other bits and pieces that don'...

Re: '12 r12r - Will disconnecting the battery cause a code?

I'm on my 3rd battery (current one has lasted a year so far, previous one lasted 9 months) and have disconnected them for various other reasons a few other times. The only thing I've every noticed was once with the throttle. When I closed the throttle the engine was slightly slow in responding, and ...

Re: The stock seat...

I also liked my stock 2006 seat (up to 1000km per day). My suggestion would be to get your new one re-foamed and recovered. Quite a bit cheaper than replacement and you can get a tailored result. I did this for the pillion section of my stock seat (leaving the front section "as is") with ...

Re: The stock seat...

I am not alone! Someone else likes the stock seat. ....... In Oz a seat is over $700 - what would a bit of moulded plastic be worth - $100? But they would not make much profit... Re: 2011 r1200r downunder

As a matter of interest, has anyone else taken issue with the stock seat? KR Speedybrother I had no problem with the original seat up to 1000Km per day, (but I grew up riding trials bikes, which had 'seats' in those days!). However, my wife didn't like the pillion section so after trying a sheepski...

Re: The King is dead...

I have still done only 200km but first impressions can be summarised by paraphrasing that old adage 'lies, damned lies and performance figures'. On paper the specs. suggest that there should not be a huge improvement over my old bike but something very pleasant and unexpected is going on, namely pe...

Re: thinking of getting a R1200R

I came from an F650GS to the R12R for similar reasons. Basically the 650 wasn't ideally suited to 2-up freeway use which was becoming more of a feature for many of our longer trips. The R12R is much better for this purpose whilst still being light and fun. The R1200GS was a bit taller than I preferr...

Re: BMW Comfort Saddle or Corbin Follow-up

I ordered a Corbin on the strength of some of the older Corbin saddles I'd seen here in Oz(tralia). Kept it all standard - the one thing I'd have like to customize was the fit, but Corbin don't do that. When it arrived, it didn't fit me - or the bike. Finally adjusted it to fit the bike, to find it...

Re: 1st attempt at a DIY seat mod - abject failure :(

FWIW, John Moorhouse (ergo motorcycle seats) did a fabulous job with my seat and I know of at least three other cases of happy owners. http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~maddoggy/ I was happy with the stock seat, but my wife wasn't. Now she can sit on it all day (we recently completed 4000 Km in 8 days...

Re: East Australia R1200R Riders

Hi Bodes, Last time we met we discussed the SBK trip. Then I started thinking, while I'm down that way it would be good to pop over to Tasmania to do more riding around my old stamping ground. One thing led to another, the promise of more time riding took over so now we are going to Tas. on 25th Feb...

Re: Sydney Ride - all welcome (moved from R12R Forum)

Hi Mark,

I can't make it on Saturday due to a wedding, maybe next time. I did enjoy catching up with some of the others from here about 6 weeks ago and would be happy to do it again.

Cheers
Peter
