Re: Getting Intimate with Mityvac and Brake Fluid

Hi Boxer
Read your post on replacing brake fluid and wanted to see the pics but the web site (below) does not seem to be up. Are they posted on another web site?

Re: Headlight bulb replacement

To All Thanks for all of the advice and comments. This all started with the replacement of the headlight bulb. It turns out as was suggest it was "zip ties" that through time had broken several wires. Replace the broken wires and move them from the headstock..........Eureka...everything wo...

Re: Headlight bulb replacement

GREAT PICs--Saved the picture in my ever growing file on my bike. One final question: In looking at the wiring diagram in Clymer, the "Right Multifunction" switch" appears to be the the kill switch. The green wire goes to fuse #4 (fuel pump) and into the multifunction switch. Assuming...

Re: Headlight bulb replacement

A pic would be great . I went and look at the wiring harness under the instruments and see a number of zip locks that wrap around. I can take a pic and upload with your ok ? To repair any broken wires..do I need to just splice together with black electric tape and then re- zip lock them or is there ...

Re: Headlight bulb replacement

Update: Picked up the fuel pump relay and installed and got the whirling noise of the fuel pump. :) Got the engine to start. Turned the handlebars and the engine was killed. Move the handlebars to a straight position and got it to start. Turned the handlebars and engine killed. Anybody have any thou...

Re: Headlight bulb replacement

The pics does help. I pull the #4 relay as it relates to the fuel pump. I was going to swap it with # 3 as this was the horn but the prongs on the two relays don't line up correctly. So I am going to call my dealer to see what the cost is for the #4 relay. Though about pulling the motronics but thou...

Re: Headlight bulb replacement

Sunbeemer I think you might be on to something with the relays. I did smell a little odor when I was riding. I not familiar with the relays, fuel or headlight. Do they just unplug, like the fuses? If you have any pics pointing them out that would be excellent? I will check my clymer for any instruct...

Re: Fuel Filter replacement

All is well with fuel filter. I put everything back together okay. It was just the fuel line housing not seating properly. Once I retset it in everything was fine. Thanks to all for the suggestions and advice.

Re: Vaccum Lines- confusion

Got it. Try the experiment and was able to determine which vaccum line that air can go through and confirmed my idea about the X markings. The line with the "X" markings is the same one that goes down and not to the canister. I think this X markings is the OEM from the factory and they pro...

Re: Vaccum Lines- confusion

Great tip, I think I will flip my QRs around while have the tank off and do the same for the vaccum lines in the future. I do think the one vaccum line that has has the "X" marking stenciled all along vaccum line makes senses to conncect to the other section of the vaccum line with the sam...

Vaccum Lines- confusion

I have just removed my tank and forgot to mark the vaccum lines. One of the vaccum lines has "X" 's marked on lines. I am hoping "X" to "X" is the right connection. Can anyone confirm this ??

Re: Fuel Filter replacement

Thanks for the response. I will check the air filter, I have an 04 model (later model) that does not have an O2 sensor that I am aware of it. Looked in the Clymer and could not find any reference or picture of an O2 sensor. I am going to apply a light coat of grease to the bottom of the air filter a...

Re: Fuel Filter replacement

I have recheck the fuel filter and have install same as the picture above in this string of posts. I have also check air filter, and battery, reset the motroncs. Also check the Quick release, reinstalled to insure the "snap". It is running better but still a little rough, also check the tr...

Re: Fuel Filter replacement

I should mention that when I was replacing the fuel filter, I also replaced air filter and battery. In readying in my Clymer, you are supposed to reset the motronics to reset the throttle positions. I neglected to do this .."my bad". I have remove the tank and checking QR and air filter to...

Re: Fuel Filter replacement

Great Picture...helps alot. The one time clamps on the fuel filter look like the ones on the quick release. I had to use a wire cutter and pliers to get the OEM BMW clamps off when I replaced the quick releases. I guess the same thing here.. any other thoughts on how to get this clamps off..to make ...
