Re: oem brake lines?

I have an 04 roadster... 2 spark and braided lines were some of the changes that came in with this model year.

Your description precisely matches the stock braided lines that came with mine.

Re: Sheathing on electric wire harness from throttle grip near fork ripped open

Many references to this problem on the board.... I've used electrical tape and removed/relocated problematic zip ties. And more recently neatened it up further by wrapping it up with Techflex braided cable sleeving (from Amazon).

Want to buy or swap: R1150R high seat

Looking for a high seat... The 820mm one per the parts fiche on realoem.com.

I have a low seat to swap... Prefer this option but willing to buy if the price is right. (My low seat is in excellent condition. Barely used... Sitting in storage for 10+ years)

PM me if interested.

Not sure if this matches your symptoms precisely; but worth a read nonetheless: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/2002-r1150gs-abs-pump-stuck-on.1223245/ *If* you're interested in preserving the ABS there might be some options to look into or at least eliminate before you go all in with removal....

Re: Cracked flange on final drive

So you went for the weld? Any pictures of the housing when it came back? Looks great. What's the torque arm spec? I ended up removing the entire final drive unit and sending it into a shop that specializes in rebuilding them. The part that was cracked was just the housing cover and they actually ha...

Re: Cracked flange on final drive

Just closing the loop on this thread. Got the final drive serviced and installed without much hassle. Cleaned up a lot of wiring and cracked insulation while I had the bike apart. Finally got her out for the first ride of the season... which was pretty much a test run close to home to make sure all ...

Re: Check ALL the bolts!

I used electrical tape around the bundle of wires and then put the braided sleeving over it. (still working on it)

The braided sleeving cleans up the look and is sturdy enough to provide abrasion resistance where it's needed.

Jim- Looks like you cleaned up the wiring with Techflex sleeves?

(Mine are just as bad - And am currently working on the same)

Re: Cracked flange on final drive

Thanks all for the feedback... just a quick update on where I am with this. Looked into what it would take to disassemble the final drive and get the cracked housing fixed... well beyond my skill level and comfort zone. Sourcing a used final drive (31:11) on eBay can be had but of questionable prove...

Re: Cracked flange on final drive

I brought this on myself for sure. Before I put the bike in storage for winter last season I removed all the painted parts and the shocks. The plan was to get a paint job done and have the shocks serviced before spring this year. - Removed all the painted parts. - Got around to the shocks... pulling...

I would love to see that I'll post up for sure when its done. Its going be the off season project so might be a while.... My 2 year old fell in love with a blue r1200r when I was at the dealership a couple weeks ago getting new tires. He's been jabbering on about "the blue motorcycle" eve...

Paint job

I've been contemplating a paint job on my R1150R for years (along with repairing a ding on the tank). I'm finally getting serious about getting it done this fall when the riding season is over. Toying with the idea of a 2 tone paint job: - Tank and rear side panels in blue. - Oil cooler covers in co...

Re: Help Please! Bike cannot hold idle.

Ok. Hit the bike early this AM. Need to get this sorted out asap. Fired the bike up first thing in the garage; only to see a large puddle of reddish/brown fluid start runnning down the engine on the right side and pooling up in copious amounts below the engine. Steam rising everywhere. Killed the en...

Re: Help Please! Bike cannot hold idle.

Yes Jas, Seepage was from the rubber manifold where it meets the cylinder block. Stick coils were were swapped out about 20K miles ago. I think I should inspect the sparkplugs as jcridge suggests. I did hear a wierd kind of electrical fizzle sound from the left side while starting up her up a few mi...

Help Please! Bike cannot hold idle.

Bike won't idle - Need some help. Leave on Tuesday for a cross country haul. 2004 R1150R, 86K. Had a bit of a seeepage on left side throttle body. Where the rubber gasket meets the engine block. Opened up the intake tract, cleaned and reassembled. Figured I do the other side as well. Bike ran ok but...

A more general question...

Does aggressive down shifting and a bias towards more engine braking in ones riding style contribute to higher than average oil consumption :?:
