Re: True or false ?
I just read this on a user page, and don't necessarily agree with it without any explanation provided. What are your experiences ? "Valve adjustment requires rebalancing of the throttle bodies." I replaced /upgraded my chain tensioner ,set my valves, and have had no issues. Any help apprec...

Re: Parasitic Drain
The Kisan takes the parasitic drain from about 2.5 mA to 7.5 mA. In other words it triples the drain! Here’s what I did to fix mine: https://www.bmwsporttouring.com/topic/76085-odyssey-pc680-and-kisan-signal-minder-sm-5-r1150-battery-drain-fix/ You lose flashers with the Key Off but that didn’t matt...

Re: How do I Deal With This 5k RPM Idle?
To idle at 5K something is holding the throttles open. Most likely the throttle cable, fast idle cable or Bowden box. If you look carefully you will see that the throttles are off the stops.

Re: Surge shows up
1) Regarding centering, that’s a good plan. If you scan my thread on ADVrider you will see JimH explain how he did that. 2) Here’s what you’re missing ... with the left TB fully closed by its spring, and without touching the TB stop screw which has been loosened for no contact ... you rotate the TPS...

Re: Surge shows up
Ok, I've read a bunch of topics on this (most referencing Roger 04 rt!) and thought I had it figured out. I connected to the TPS as described and found that it was measuring quite high (like .85V) so I reset it to spec at 0.36V by loosening the screws and turning the TPS to the right setting. I res...

Re: Surge shows up
Since you don’t have a GS911 (can you borrow one?), you can measure the voltage between pins 1 & 4 on the TPS connector with it plugged in. Most do this by removing the connector and inserting a thin strand of wire into the pin 1 and pin 4 slots on the connector and then plugging that jury-rig b...

Re: Surge shows up
From your description of the problem and based on replacing one TB, my thought is that you should make sure all the BBS passageways are clear, make sure the new throttle plates are centered exactly in the TB bore, make sure there are no air leaks and then exactly (no shortcuts) follow the procedure ...

I don't have one handy and would have to hunt for it. Hopefully someone here can explain how to measure TPS voltage.

Re: Surge shows up
Dang. I finally installed the new spark plug cables. Still having a surge issue. I'm guessing it is either: something I did with the throttle body or sync; fuel injector related (doubtful); or, maybe controller. Not sure what else effects the fueling. You don’t have to read the whole thread, just f...

Re: No start in cold
I put the fast throttle (choke) on and hit the start button. It turns over but sluggishly. It's quite warm here today and started ok. But, there's a slight hesitation at first. Just doesn't seem strong. When it has been colder, upper 30's, it turns over but much slower and won't actually start. Ton...

Re: 1200 injector upgrade fo the rockster
I applaud you for not making subjective recommendations. There are so many engine performance mods for our bikes that do nothing. Since I have the time, equipment and background, I try to make tests and measurements to figure out what works and what doesn’t. As far as I can see, the main benefits of...

Re: 1200 injector upgrade fo the rockster
Mike, Thanks for pointing out the typo, which I fixed. It is a 2001 R1150GS. Is there a link to your report? Wait, I see you’re referring to this thread. Rockster, R1150R, R1150GS ... the engines and Motronic all work the same. In your report you said you “weren’t recommending, just say’n” so I adde...

Re: 1200 injector upgrade fo the rockster
I’ve just installed them and written a comprehensive report for anyone interested, here: https://advrider.com/index.php?threads/ ... t-35805911
They definitely can smooth out your engine but don’t expect any added performance.

Re: Anyone removed the O2 sensor?
The only way to know for sure what a given coding plug will do in a given R1150 is to read the configuration with a GS-911. Anything else is merely guesswork. Here is a link for several that have been measured: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/coding-plugs-r1100-r1150-decoded.765242/#post-26886...

Sol, Here is a write up on the R 1150 closed loop area: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/r1100gs-r1150gs-r1200gs-wideband-o2-fueling-projects-part-ii.988513/page-3#post-25610970. The in-tank hoses are even more of a problem. When they leak, it's no-go. Happened to me a 70mph on the highway.

Re: 1150r very red muffler !
That glowing thing is the catalytic converter. It was glowing red because a LOT of unburned fuel made it to that point. Most likely your engine is misfiring (the coughing you mentioned). You need some help determining why the engine was running rough.

Re: Throttle Body Sync & Idle Setting Difficulty -> New Beru Coils
Here is a much better way. Use inexpensive, proven, industrial grade, ultra reliabilable Ford coils and mount them AWAY from the very hot, enclosed area of the OilHead's cylinder head. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/coil-sticks-no-more.713106/ I check that ADV topic thread regularly for new ...
