Re: R1150R Battery choice
Has anyone heard anything good or bad about the Battery Tender lithium ion battery? It's about the same price as the Odyssey. I have no first-hand experience, but I have heard that the Li Ion batteries need to be "warmed up" by turning on the ignition with headlight for a minute or so bef...

Re: Motorcycle not paying for street parking but no ticket (yet)
Dude, you are fine. In NYC at least you are supposed to park perpendicular, as you are. I can't imagine DC is much different. Yes, I've had my bike knocked over by idiots in one of the cars, but that is the nature of parking in a city. Truly, that was a major driver for me to move to the suburbs. No...

Throttle Body Sync & Idle Setting Difficulty -> New Beru Coils
Good afternoon, My bike was getting small popping into the exhaust, was not running as smoothly as I felt it should, was idling somewhat erratically, and when I used the cold-start lever it just wasn't keeping the RPM up enough when cold, such that I had to hold it in the cold-start position for a w...

Interesting. I've had mixed luck with AliExpress, though. Sometimes cheap imitations. Did you try it?

Re: JW Speaker LED Light
Oh, then there's the $799 price. Hmm.... Cheaper than physical therapy after a crash... What else can I rationalize this with?

Re: JW Speaker LED Light
Wow! Cool video! Looks like a great idea, but I'd be afraid to buy it without real-world, unbiased, feedback. It seems like it could be a little "gimmicky".

DrGubs, you have any feedback, pics, or other information about that LED headlight upgrade?

Re: R1150R Battery choice
Great thread to resurrect as the 2002 had a "used" Exide sealed battery installed a few years ago by a Dealer. Anyone try the Motobatt MB51814? https://motorcycle.batterylookup.com/bikes/2001/BMW/R1150R?feat=MB51814 I have not tried it, but the specifications indicate that it will fit int...

Re: Before I disassemble more than I have to!
re: the drain line vs. vent line, one of them (drain line, I think) has 'X's printed every couple of centimeters on the whole length of it, so just make sure you hook the hose with 'X's to the hose with 'X's and you'll be fine. I'm sure that now that I've jinxed that, I will accidentally mix them up...

Re: Owner Manual R1150R
Sorry, that link is dead now, four years later. Anybody got that file for me? Or maybe 2004 R1150R Owner's Manual? I'm realizing that after a few years there are still things I'm not 100% clear on how they operate on this bike, so at least one good read-through couldn't hurt. P.S. BMW's site only ha...

Re: Before I disassemble more than I have to!
I've seen that video. Helpful. Short answer is, oil coolers can be unscrewed from tank and moved out of the way a couple inches so that the tank can be removed. Each of the plastic painted parts are secured on the bottom by two screws (longer T25s), then lift out of grommets on top. Then each of the...

Re: R1150R Battery choice
Yes, zombie thread resurrection. I just replaced my 2004 R1150R's 3rd OEM gel cell with a Yuasa YT19BL-BS. According to 2014 press releases from Yuasa this new battery is designed to be a direct replacement for the OEM BMW battery, but it uses AGM technology rather than Gel. http://www.cycleworld.co...

Re: 1150R seat
I have 34" inseam, and I'm 6'1" tall. I found the stock seat on my 2004 R1150R to be too low such that it caused me pain and cramps in my hips after just a short ride (maybe even as little as 30 mins). I bought the OEM high seat (same as for the Rockster) and I love it! I have not tried an...

Re: Just replaced cam chain tensioner
yes, Zombie thread, I know. I just replaced mine today. It was very easy and simple to do without removing any other parts from the bike. My bike has 30727 miles on the clock, and was making an annoying clacking sound at startup for a second or so, which was worse when hot and left sitting for a few...
