Re: R1150r rear fender elimination
I cut mine - not total removal. I haven't noticed any issue with riding in rain.

Re: rain cover
Steven, A friend of mine bought this: http://www.cycleshell.com/ after seeing it at a show in 2002. Not inexpensive, but it has lasted for years. Has a floor and the top kind of swings over the bike for easy access. I seem to remember that we buried a cinder block waith a chain attached in his yard ...

Re: First BMW! Newbie to Forum
Jordan, I think you'll like the r1150. I used to ride a CBR1000 - it was great for the curves & track days but after I started doing longer multi-day rides it was really uncomfortable. Or maybe it was after I got old. Anyway, the 1150 has been a great all around bike for me. Really easy to live ...

Re: Another new R1150R owner ! From Brussels, Belgium.
Michel, Nice bike. I had a tough time deciding between the blue and the black (2002). I got the black, but seeing your bike makes me want the blue version all over again! Even better is where you can ride! In 8 hours or so, you can be riding in the Apls, right? I can't wait to get back over there an...

Re: any advice for NY to Montreal
I'm sure you know the part close to NYC. I love some of the parkways - the Taconic, Palisades, etc Bear mountain bridge - really anywhere along the Hudson. But the best riding IMHO is in Vermont. Route 100 is top notch and fortunately for you it runs north south through the entire state. There are m...

Re: Revamped Exhaust
Thanks Buckster. The muffler is $15.95 @ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JEX-A3009S/ I think the clamp was around the same price. Sound isn't much different from running no muffler at all - just a bit quieter. The biggest change is when you're next to anything, vehicle, wall, in a garage, etc it s...

Revamped Exhaust
Sorry for yet one more posting on full cases & muffler mod's, but I was unhappy with the bikes look after removing the muffler. My crappy looking home made full case bracket didn't help either. Some of your postings & Eduardo's pictures got me thinking about a different approach. Someone had...

Re: Fingers are crossed but need some info!!!!
Another thing I'm sure you've already checked but I had the same thing happen on my 02. Check the shift linkage right at the splined shaft on the transmission - I can't remember exactly what it looks like (I'm at work). There is either just a bolt or a bolt with nut that tightens the linkage on the ...

Re: Fuel Filter Hose Clamps
I did the same thing about 5 years ago and they are still ok. The original clamp let go on Route 95 - engine died and I coasted to the breakdown lane. Not sure how many miles I've traveled since.

Re: R1150RT Left Case used in a R1150R without the OEM exhaust?
Sorry for the delay Eduardo. Here are a few pictures of the bracket I made. No welding required - just plate aluminum cut with a jigsaw, drilled with a hand drill, bent with a vise and hammer. Compared to the work of others on this forum, the quality of my workmanship really sucks. http://sphotos.ak...

Re: Cool Weather Riding Mods
John,
I use Gerbings jacket liner & gloves controlled by the heated grip switch via a relay - so if the grips are on (either low or high) the jacket is on.
Not sure everyone would like this (as I am always cold). You may want a thermostatic controller.

Re: R1150RT Left Case used in a R1150R without the OEM exhaust?
Eduardo, Yes an RT case will work fine. I made a lower bracket out of aluminum plate. Just used a vise and hand tools (jig saw, grinder, etc) I'll take a picture and post it tonight. It's been installed and in use for about 6 years. You could also just mount some U channel on the case to line up wit...

Re: Front fender replacement
Yes - the rear half is stock. You are left with a cast cross bracket when you take the beak off. As you can see in the upper photo, I used to have a little plate attached to it (expressing my incredibly wise and insightful political views) That has since been deleted and only the cast bracket remain...
