I've just had my 4th fuel strip go TU. The last 3 failures have happened in the past 600 miles. Yes, they are failing about every time I fill up.
Any ideas?

Re: R1200 Water Cooled
Nice video work peckhammer, I assume you're just involved with the production and not the sales pitch.... it seems everyone who sells something related to the new GS is on the bandwagon of giving it praise for their own benefits and profits. When I hear "the incredible turn radius remains, a m...

Re: R1200 Water Cooled
I managed to ride the new GS for about an hour last weekend. I keep wanting to fall in love with a GS, but everytime I ride one and then get back on my R1200R, I lose interest. The things I like about the GS, in general, are the roominess, and seating position. The new watercooled motor definitely h...

R1200 Water Cooled
Warning: This is not an R1200R topic, per se, but I have just spent the morning filming the 2013 R1200GS, which is water-cooled. All I can say is that it's really freakin' powerful. I assume this motor will make its way into the R. Does anyone know if and when? Here's some stills I took after filmin...

Re: Screens compared
Best screen I've ever had is the one on the RTs I have rented. Being able to adjust it with the push of a button is awesome. Too hot, no problem, buffeting, no problem. If you could only get that think on the R1200R.
I sometimes wish I had bought an RT, but the R just looks to damn good.

Re: Devil's Highway
It is indeed the Coronado Trail. It is also referred to as the Devil's Highway because it used to be Route 666. It was renamed to Route 191. Rumor has it DOT was sick of people stealing the signs, although I am sure there were other reasons involved.Dr. Strangelove wrote:Coronado Trail, isn't it?

Devil's Highway
Girl Wonder and I just returned from Arizona where we rode part of Route 191, AKA The Devil's Highway. It's considered to be one of the twistiest roads in the US. I've included a link to a video clip below, which represents 17.5 miles of the road riding south from the DOT station to the view point j...

Wow. That does look sweet. How much was it? I can't wait to hear how well it works.

Re: Transmission oil question
Thanks all! That's exactly the info I needed. BTW, if you like the trailer, you can catch the whole film at Woodstock (NY) or Raindance (London, UK). I believe both screen in October. My (short) film opens for Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet in London. That's a great film about a guitar prodigy who gets ...

Transmission oil question
I changed the transmission oil at 600 miles, using Redline synthetic. I would like to change it again, but: A. I forgot what viscosity, and the manual does not appear to include this info. B. I do not know the capacity; yeah, up to the threads of the filler hole, but there must be an actual volume a...

Re: Roadlanes review
I disagree with what the tester said about the bike not being in its element on Latigo Canyon Road. I know this tight and twisty road well, and have ridden bikes ranging from a GS, a VFR and even a Yamaha Radian with worn out swing arm bushings. They all have different handling characteristics, and ...

And for those interested in knowing what the Akropovic sounds like with the baffles in, here is something I put together a while back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJIUFaYF8sY And speaking of music, here is something I just finished that might appeal to the guitar players in the forum: http://www....

Re: The Akropovic Tune
I reset the ECU this morning as follows: 1. Disconnected the battery negative lead for 30 seconds 2. Reconnected and turn the ignition on (did NOT start the bike) 3. Opened the throttle from fully closed to fully open - repeated twice 4. Switched the ignition off 5. Started the bike The surge I had ...

Re: The Akropovic Tune
I notice a little popping on decel with a stock exhaust and if you are experiencing more then I'd say the exhaust is less restrictive and thus more efficient? Would it be wise to reset the ECU and let it re-learn with the new exhaust? If I recall, this requires removing fuse number 5 (or 5th from l...

Re: The Akropovic Tune
Do you notice any improvement in performance? It makes me want to wring the throttle for the pure amusement of the sound, so yeah, the bike is faster now. ;) But seriously, I am not noticing any dramatic change. In fact, I think it actually emphasises a surge that was already there, and if you list...

The Akropovic Tune
Just bought the Akropovic titanium slip-on. I was worried that it would be too loud, having purchased after market exhaust systems in the past and hating them after 30 minutes. Not this time. As others have said, it's pretty close to the volume of the OEM muffler, though that is a little subjective ...

I thought I read that this exhaust lowers HP. Any truth to that?
