Re: Master Cylinder failure. Please help

Is it possible I just got a whole lot of air in the line? Should I leave the cap off and allow it to flow downhill over night? I was pumping the lever without the cap and let run dry for a few pumps before I noticed.

Master Cylinder failure. Please help

Just two weeks from a 1000 mile road trip, I just ruined my master cylinder by creating too much back pressure pushing back the pistons that it no longer builds pressure. I mean nothing like it was empty of fluid . how do I fix this? It makes a strange noise now also

What type of lock-tite should I use to tighten the bolts. Also what is the torque required for the rear rotor?

Re: injector cleaner question

Thanks for the responses. I agree Kirby total BS. I left the dealer thinking maybe I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Now I just believe he thought I was the usual gullible owner of high end machinery that does not typically do their own maintenance ( sorry if you feel offended ). On a side n...

injector cleaner question

So I picked up bottle of BMW injector cleaner at my local dealer. After I payed I asked about the proper way to use it and he explained and after he was finished he said oh one more thing... Most people change their oil after running through a tank of this stuff because of all the carbon it dissolve...

Re: Need to Replace a Clutch

Ha! Wow after all that debate... Now here is my new advice. Try at the very least to extract the slave just to inspect without dismantling the whole thing. It can be done with small hands and patience. If it looks nice and dry ,grease the bearing, reinstall and enjoy your new bike for years to come.

Re: Need to Replace a Clutch

Yes bi annual means every other year. Semi annual would be twice a year. My money is on option #3. Keep us posted!! Also if it helps I machined my own clutch alignment tool and two of the threaded posts you need to help align the bolts when you remove and install the gearbox. PM me you info and I wo...

Re: Need to Replace a Clutch

I agree with Kirby on passing up on the hub mod. It's not necessary. As far as what I meant by proper servicing? These bikes use dot 4 brake fluid unlike the dot 3 in your car. Dot 4 absorbs moisture more readily and requires a bi annual bleed. It's why the manual states to use fluid from a new seal...

Re: Need to Replace a Clutch

Here is probably what happened. Your slave cylinder bearing failed and caused the piston and seal in the slave cylinder to start spinning and wear out the anodidized aluminum coated walls which in turn causes brake fluid to leak past, run down the push rod which contacts the diaphragm spring, then g...

handle bar swap

So id like to swap the bars on my Rockster to roadster bars. The instructions in my Clymer manual are very vague about this procedure. Anyone ever post a walkthrough on this?

Spend $100 when you remove the tranny and replace that tired old slave cylinder with a brand new magura unit. You'll thank me later.

neutral light trouble

The neutral light on my 04 1150r does not work until the bike is warmed up. Usually 10-15 minutes of riding and then it works. Any ideas what to check??

Re: New user, new to me bike

The knocking is probably a result of a low motor oil level. Check the sight glass on the side. On the center stand it should be right in the middle of the circle. Also the rattle you hear is caused by a poor cam chain tensioner design. BMW has an updated version if it for about $100 and its very eas...
