Re: Aux Lights

http://2004-r1150r.weebly.com/uploads/2/1/8/3/21837496/8180438_orig.jpg I mounted Clearwater Darla's on the underside of the oil cooler covers. I beefed up and stiffend the plastic covers with a small fiberglass pad on the inside. Installation worked well and gave me a nice big triangle of lights. ...

Re: Road light mounts under the coolers?

Endgame, Since the subject of your exhaust tip came up, I was wondering if you could provide information about where you got it and any sizing/manufacturer/part number info that would allow me to be sure I was getting the same one. Many thanks, Craig It’s a polished, 16 gauge, 304 stainless ’Turndo...

Re: Road light mounts under the coolers?

I installed Clearwater Darlas under the oil coolers. I reinforced the plastic covers with fiberglass/epoxy pads on the backside and through-bolted the Clearwater L-bracket to it. No vibration or movement issues. I’m very pleased with the installation and the lighting options I get from the Darlas wi...

Re: Full size system cases on R1150R… is it really possible?

Thanks all, will order RT cases today. Yes definitely want the extra capacity. The full size case is 20% (6 liter) larger than the exhaust impaired version. I'm pretty happy with the exhaust sound with the 8" tip and no muffler. It's a bit louder but no big deal, ride with earplugs anyway. Here...

Re: Full size system cases on R1150R… is it really possible?

Thank you all! I searched the forums some more and indeed found examples of adapting the left system case to accept the ‘bumped-out’ bracket. So just to make sure before I order my cases. For my 2004 R1150R I should order (both) System Cases that are listed for the R1150RT. The right case will be a ...

Full size system cases on R1150R… is it really possible?

So I replaced the stock muffler on my 2004 R1150R with an 8” hot tip. I thought that would allow me to install full size system cases as several people have done as I thought I’d read in the forums.…… BUT….looking at the bike I noticed the passenger foot-peg plates have the plastic cap on the back t...

Re: New old bike!

Very pretty!! I see you have removed your stock muffler and installed the short pipe. Do you have bags - system cases? I am thinking about removing my muffler and putting on the short pipe, but I am concerned about exhaust heat on the bags. I wonder if you or anyone can speak to that concern. One o...

Received my stainless 8” polished tip from Rod-Shop. Nice tight fit. Secured it with 2 stainless pop-rivets.

To muffle or not to muffle?

Have been sorting out my recently purchased R. Link to bike here: http://2004-r1150r.weebly.com Want to install full size system cases and would like to get rid of the stock muffler (replace with 8” exhaust tip) but don’t want a lot more exhaust noise. I have read several posts on the topic (thank y...

Re: Spare key

My used 04 came with one working key and 2 blanks. One blank had the BMW black rubber grip, the other was just a short metal blank without the grip. Last week I took them to my local locksmith who cut them both in a couple minutes for $4.00. They work great although not as smooth as the working key....

Re: New old bike!

Thanks Tower! Love that blue/black combination on your bike! Yes, my wife likes the backrest. I still need to tweak the angle a little to make it fit better. Re: New old bike!

I neglected to mention........It'd be a good idea to flush out the old antifreeze/coolant in the tank side radiators and replace with new. Any good grade of antifreeze is generally OK but I prefer to go to my local BMW bike parts dept and get the BMW stuff. They'll know exactly what you need. =D> =...
