Re: R1150R Starting issues/Brake light flash
The stick coil hack was me. The trick is to log onto Amazon.de (Germany) where you will find the new style with the metal jacket, Beru AG 0040100385 Ignition Coil. 52 euros a piece. They shipped them to me in in Ohio no problem. https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0068O8II8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_bia_widget_...

Re: So Long and Thanks
Guys,
Thanks for the kind words. Genuinely appreciated. The new owner sent me a picture from his first ride with the bike today. Here ya go. The object of my (former) obsession.

So Long and Thanks
I never wanted to be the guy behind one of these posts because they are so depressing. But I just wanted to say thanks to this group. So here goes nothing. Sold my '04 R this week. It was the only bike I ever owned. If not for this forum, I wouldn't have been able to do all the service including the...

Re: Need a new Ignition coil stick. Do you know a cheap place?
I put 50 miles on my new BERU stick coils today. Wow, it idles perfectly. It runs much, much better. Makes me think I’ve had a one or both of them inop or intermittent for a long time.

Re: Need a new Ignition coil stick. Do you know a cheap place?
Ok, for the U.S.- based folks, stick coils are stupid expensive $106-$173 at the dealers. I found the Beru part number 0040100385 on Amazon.de for $58 each including shipping. I have 2 on order.

Burnt Rubber Smell Solved!
I kept getting a burnt rubber smell after a ride. Checked for rubber hoses and washers on top of the catalytic converter but nothing found. I then noticed a smaller than expected clearance between the paralever arm and tire sidewall. Bingo! Wrong tire installed 3K miles ago! It’s supposed to be a 17...

Re: Oil Change Thoughts
Same problem here. I'm older and my 'good' tall funnel likes to fall out of the hole. Thinking through this I typically end up picking some super cold Ohio winter day to change oil. The oil is cold, thick and slow. Anyone ever try gently warming the oil before filling? Nothing crazy. The oven is off...

Re: Windshield
Too funny. I have had that touring screen on for 3 years. Got sick of the buffeting at highway speeds. Tried the laminar lip too. I’m 6’2”. Also using the high seat which I’m fairly sure contributes to the issue. Just installed the flyscreen (a.k.a. “Speedster” in the parts catalog) last weekend. Th...

Yes I know this thread is old. But I need the two speedster windshield brackets? Anyone? Thanks.

Re: POLL: What seat are you using?
DIY mods on the stock. Added approx. 3 inches of carpet pad and upholstery foam to the low seat and recovered with carbon fiber look vinyl. Way less knee bending and no more sliding into the tank!
