Re: Trailering my 02 R1150R 3800 miles

Good looking bike, I've got the same color . What part of AZ did you ride in, the lower elevations, or the high country ??? I stayed in the valley - northeast of Scottsdale... there's a lot of great riding out there in the Tonto National Forest ... Bartlett Reservoir, Saguaro Lake/Bush Highway, Tor...

Re: Trailering my 02 R1150R 3800 miles

Nice looking motorcycle........... What brand of fairing is that just shows a glimpse in the first photo ? That's an excellent question Ron - I always assumed it was a BMW option when the bike was purchased. I am the third owner of this bike. I'd have to get a closer look for you but at the moment ...

Trailering my 02 R1150R 3800 miles

I just trailer'd my bike from MI to AZ and back again without issue. Here's my method. I wanted the suspension of the bike to do its job so I just used a tie-strap to secure the front tire, then 4 more tie straps to pull the bike slightly downward and forward. I tied on to the telelever arm and rear...

Re: I should be dead

Thanks for your post Ex-hog. Went for a ride today and made sure at all times I could see the car in front of me AND the car in FRONT of the car in front of me... Way too easy to become lax and let the guard down. Your post was a great reminder to stay alert and focused. Safety first, at all times....

I should be dead

I should be dead. I've been riding for 28 years now and I've had a few incidents ... totaled one bike on a curvy road that landed me in the hospital (I was just a kid), drivers have pulled out in front of me, I've been pushed out of my lane on the freeway by a big-rig, I’ve had a blow-out (rear whee...

Barkbusters Handguards with Throttlemeister throttle lock

I recently purchased from Twisted Throttle the Barkbusters Storm S7 handguards for my '02 R1150R. I have Throttlemeister "cruise control" ... and as you may know - the throttle lock engages by screwing counter-clockwise (about 1/8 inch out away from the end of the grip). So this required a...

Interesting idea - - have you done this? Is there a kit?

Re: 2002 r1150r Fuel Pump Assembly Orientation

Meatycape and EX-HOG, Because of interference, you'll both have to remove the assembly and re-insert it so the fuel pump internals will not contact the internal obstructions. You both seem to have entered the opening at the wrong initial rotational angle and are one stud bolt away from the correct ...

Got the bike back from the dealer today. $248 and it's fixed. TB Sync and valve adjustment did the job.

Re: an Excellent Mechanic in... ?

EX-HOG, Let me help you in your search by giving you some important guidelines. I'm 69 now and have been working on bikes and cars since I was about 17, mostly Hondas and other Japanese bikes. The number of Harleys, worked on by choice, I can count on 1 hand. What those HonKawSuzYam bikes provided ...

Re: 2002 r1150r Fuel Pump Assembly Orientation

I have recently replaced the fuel filter on mine and the flat edge is in the same position as yours. I had the same doubts after reading that it should be facing forwards, but like yours, mine wouldn't rotate anymore, so I've left it as it is. All is ok after 800 miles. Thanks Meatycape - glad to k...

Re: an Excellent Mechanic in... ?

I just bought my first BMW motorcycle (the 2002 R1150R) with 11,500 on the clock. After I put a thousand miles on it I changed the oil (used dino)& filter, replaced the primary and final drive gear oil (75w 90 full syn), replaced the plastic QD's, pulled the tank and repaired a fuel leak at the ...

an Excellent Mechanic in... ?

Grand Rapids, MI. I thought I'd start this post first to see if anyone knows of an excellent mechanic in Grand Rapids, MI. I prefer not to take my bike to the dealer for work - but that's just me. I do a lot of my own work, but as Harry Callahan once said - "A man's GOT to know his limitations....

I wasn't able to rotate the assembly - so I've decided to live with it.

2002 r1150r Fuel Pump Assembly Orientation

I removed the tank from my bike to replace the fuel lines and also looked at the fuel pump orientation. My low fuel light comes on with 2.5 gallons of fuel left in the tank and I'm wondering if the fuel pump assembly is properly aligned. I watched a fuel filter change on a 1200GS and the guys doing ...
