Re: Final drive bearings

i wound up using a cat's claw (carpenter nail extractor) to remove my fragged bearing from the crown gear.

that was special

Re: Final drive bearings

i beat my crown gear bearing off with a claw hammer and a cats claw.

then froze the bearing and baked the gear, slipped almost all the way on, and did a little tap tap with the inner race from the cratered unit

i got just over 14K on 009 raven rear, just mounted another.

always ride with bags and at least 50lbs of tools etc. i am 180

was worn flat with no cords showing, but there was some type of penetration causing a very slow air leak

Re: ABS Failure

my rear servo went out. did the removal, drilled out the module and plugged it back in. zero rewiring. the idea of ABS is great, and ABS has saved me on my F650 a few times. the idea of ABS that can fail and leave you with about 10% braking capacity will eventually lead to serious injury or death. g...

Re: Need new tires....what do you like?

i have 12.5K on my stinko raven 009s, mounted them in fall of 2017, getting ready to install a new rear for 2019. the bags are always on the bike with about 50lbs plus my 180 dripping wet without any riding gear. I've done hours at 80-100mph running out to west tx, a load of commuting, and local twi...

Re: Spline shaft lubrication time

I'd recommend you do a little research about the bushing replacements for the swing arm bearings. There have been some problems with the ones from rubber chicken garage (sorry I can't remember the particulars), but I was considering them and waited a few years to see if they were working and read s...

Re: Yes, Another ABS question

conclusion: last friday week i pulled up to grab a brisket sammich and a huge puff of smoke, over five feet spherical bloom billowed from the motor. This caused a rather hasty exit at i thought that i may catch fire with the bike. The cloud dissapated immediately, and upon further inspection i notic...

Re: swing arm bushings

there's these too.

i discovered those rubber duck ones in my swing arm when i replaced the fragged drive bearing. one side was beat up pretty bad, so i made sure it was rotated on a newer looking portion to pivot on.

thanks kirby for your third option

Re: Final Drive Additive?

In a word...NO. Getrag "clunking in everything from motos to giant trucks for 100years" inherent to the brand. Only surpassed by Harley clunkers! About the only thing that would "quiet" a getrag is saw dust or bananas. Getrags are very tough. All jokes aside, moly will not make ...
