Might be 2 1/2 months late.!
I am just turned 23 x 3 years old in January; I am still riding my 2002 in Japan.
Opening season is 1 April, still little snow in March.
Glad to see "Hightower" on this site.

IAW. New Owner Bike misfired at all ranges two weeks ago when outside temperature was around 28C - 35C He was stuck in heavy traffic etc. After bike cool down, it has no issue at all. Took my bike out for 200 kms check-up.

No Problem. I had several issues with this sputtering; it is so frustrating.

If it happened again, I will forget about it and ride easy.

14C, took my bike out for a short ride.
Bike ran good, No acting up (sputtering) yet.

I will find out more in 2-3 weeks when riding season start in Northern Japan.

I am hoping that sputtering will not occur again.

Folks, Honestly, I do not know that I fixed it (Stop Sputtering); I will not find out until next Spring when temperature get warmer. I rode about 150 miles last week, up and down the mountain, twisted/turned, duplicated the turns/leans. No Sputtering. Is the temperature has anything to do with it? I...

temperature is in mid-50 F; bike ran ok on 30 - 40 miles. Not sputtering.

Will do more riding tomorrow before snow or too cold to ride.

Minor changes after replaced old fuel pump.
Bike still sputtered after leaned and turned left/right, 45 degrees
- Less frequent after leaned and turned included from dead stop.
- Less Jerky or violent than before.
- Shorter time of sputtering.

Will continue to search on this problem.

I have installed a new fuel pump, checked on wire harness again, cleaned the connectors, turned left/right and looked for binding etc. I took the bike out on a short ride and hope to duplicate the sputtering, Not Happened yet. I rechecked the free movement on wire harnesses, repaired anything that looked bad included pulled the wirings while bike is running. After 2 1/2 days of riding hard, I believed the problem of sputtering when bike got hot, Solved. Replaced bad coil and bad spark plug wires (one of the wires has cracked/broken near cylinder head).

thanks for the info. I went into Adrider Forum; all things seemed to head toward HES. However, on German Forum, riders tended to point out to Bad Coil, Plugs and Sparking wires. HES remove and reinstall seems to take more time, so, I will play with ignition coil since it will take me just 20 minutes...

I rode my bike to work this morning; the weather was nice and cool.
No Sputtering when I gunned it.
30 minutes later, I came off a sharp left turn. Here comes Sputtering.

Any suggestion?
