Re: Cross-Country Solo

Hey guys,

I only got it Tuesday night, I put 150 miles on it yesterday. So far so good but really too early to tell. It is higher and wider than the 2011 comfort seat.

I'm leaving for Washington Friday so I'll keep you posted

Re: Cross-Country Solo

North it is. I really wanted to head south. I'm just not ready for that kind of heat. I'm heading out Friday. Route 20 across New York. May hit the MOA rally. Then through Cleveland into Michigan. Headed to the U.P. Then over to Areostich in Duluth and up around Lake Superior. Thinking about The Gun...

Re: Run-In Service

Yes it's a 2011. It really seems to like the 4000 RPM range.

Did around 140 miles today in fierce winds, about 20 of it on Rt 81. I came away impressed with it's stability in wind and on the highway.

Re: Cross-Country Solo

John,

Yes, I must admit I have been looking at the daily temps for some of the cities along my projected route. And have been seriously considering a more northerly route.

Thanks for the advice.

Cross-Country Solo

Leaving in about two-three weeks, approx 6/10-6/15 from upstate NY. Going cross country. No time frame. Probably head west into Pa and pick up Rt 16 in Altoona, that will get me to Boone N.C. I'd like to see Telico Plains. Then thinking about the Natchez Trace. Unsure from there. Northern Texas, Moa...

Re: Driving lights for R1200R

I have a set of Piaa 510s from a Ducati Project that ended badly. I'm going to try a set of LumaLink brackets on my R and hang them upside down as pictured in the gallery.

+1 on it being a great bike for the Catskills.

It's Official

Well after testing some bikes and testing some more. I took the plunge today. This came home with me this afternoon. http://lv1.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/R1200R/i-zcCBTSK/0/L/IMG1161-L.jpg It seems they really have this one dialed in. I tested a 2010 model and didn't come away all that impressed. It w...

Actually I have ridden the 12R twice, both extended demos of more than an hour each. And I owned a R1150R. But you are probably right. Thanks for the advice.

Re: R1200R PHOT0 GALLERY

Patience is a virtue, or so they tell me :-k If not next week, shortly thereafter my commuting season can begin. This is only her second roll out of the gargage for some air. Five months under heavy snows, I've tinkered and polished the winter away. After the pinstripe project, I fitted the SW-Mote...

Re: Extended Cross Crountry Trip on the Newest R??

Folks.

Thanks for the info. I agree the 12R is smoother, faster, lighter and better handling. But I must admit I love the looks of the old roadster.

Exhaust lowering/Side Case change

I was wondering how much of a hassle is it to lower the exhaust to accommodate the regular size system case?

Extended Cross Crountry Trip on the Newest R??

Hey folks. I have the opportunity for an extended cross country trip this summer 30-90 days. I have been back and forth about which bike to buy. I have recently sold. or more accurately am in the process of selling my F880GS, I don't think I want to tour the country in the 800. I found a Nice used R...

Re: 12R,1150R,800GS ???

Just to let everyone know. I made my decision. I put $$$ down on the F800 GS yesterday. After much research and many test ride miles, coupled with my idea of how I want to ride this bike. The 800 came out on top. I don't think there is a bad choice to be had here. If I were sticking strictly to pave...

R12R Test Ride

Well, two weeks ago I went to Troy and took a couple of bikes for a chilly ride. First up was a new Blue R1200R. It was new so I didn't hammer on it. But I came away thinking what a sweet bike it was. Snappy, brisk handling, comfortable ergos, smooth power. All in a nice package. Nothing got pushed ...

So does this mean the f/S ad over on ADV Rider on the flea market is not valid?
