Re: Pistols

Well It turns out that gun ownership is kinda like motorcycle ownership... Once you have one, you want another! I just bought a rifle. It is a Henry Golden boy .22. It is very pretty! I'm looking forward to many hours of plinking! Also two guns makes range trips much more fun. Thanks for all the adv...

Re: Pistols

Yes, 17 round mags. The Glock 19 has a 15 round mag. They sell many more 19's than 17's and the salesman was pushing me towards that for the carry aspect, but I did not like the feel in my hand.

Re: Pistols

I got the 4 Gen. There was some concern over the recoil spring assembly in the first production run, but Glock has worked it out (or so say the internets). I'm very pleased with the operation and the feel. The shop had a deal on the a police surplus Gen 3 with night sights for $50 bucks less but it ...

Re: Pistols

Ok so after some testing and much consideration, I've decided on the Glock 17. The two that it came down to were the Glock and the Walther PPQ. I liked the feel of the PPQ in my hand, but I was not a fan of the mag eject button and found it a little too light when firing. The Glock has always felt g...

Pistols

Reading the "Gun Question" topic, it seems that many of you fellas are fairly knowledgeable about your firearms. Just today, I received my pistol permit after many months lost in the bureaucratic wasteland of the Connecticut State Police. I am in the market for a pistol. This is for purely...

Re: R1150R vs F800ST

I've been thinking about making this change too. I rode an F800S a couple of years back, but he riding position was too sporty for my large frame. So I pushed the 800 series to the back of my brain. That said... I rode a friend's F650GS this weekend and I was blown away. The riding position was grea...

Re: New owner and a high side and an indestructable motorcyc

I high-sided my 2003 Roadster in 2007. I was overconfident as a new rider and carried too much speed into a curve with a downhill slope. I got spooked and hit the brakes while in the turn going about 30. Bad idea. The back end slid out to the right, bounced and skipped to the left and sprung me off....

You can have mine for $300 (plus shipping). I got them and they are great, but I never use them because I use a tailbag. PM if you want photos.

Re: Remove System case locks with no keys?

+1

Go to a locksmith... They can unlock it for you and build you a key for the lock. My used bags come locked open and for the guys downtown fixed me up for 30 bucks. plus I have keys that are separate from the ignition which is actually kinda nice to have.

Re: Basement flood

Speaking of gutters. Does anyone have any suggestions about gutter blockers/covers for use my gutters. I last year I underestimated the sheer volume of debris (leaves and pine needles/cones) that would make their way into my gutters after 2 cleanings (It was a new home). I have seen covers, but they...

Re: Earplugs Anyone?

I got the Challenger Model M earphones in March 2009. I agonized over the cost ,but I other earbuds/plugs I had tried left my ears red and angry after a ride under a helmet. After a year of use, all I can say it that they are worth it. I have absolutely gotten my 200 dollars worth. They are well mad...

I've got the BMW bags with the GS mount. I like them but I almost never use them due to the limited long distance that I ride. I'd be willing to part with them. PM me if you are interested.

Is the locking mechanism (red tab) bent? I had this problem when I bought my used bags.

Re: Should I buy?

Isn't the charcoal canister the put on especially for the CA emissions standard? I think that all BMW bikes are CA legal so long as they have the canister still attached.

BUY IT! You will not be disappointed!

Re: New owner

A seat can make a world of difference to position and buffering. I just got a high seat last fall and it feels like a whole new bike.

I've got a low seat that is just gathering dust since I bought my new seat.

PM me if you want any more details.

Re: F800R in showroom this Friday!

For a BMW streetbike, a chain drive seems to violate a long standing unspoken policy to make machines that can take on several hours of high speed cruising with clean, quiet, low maintenance reliability. Even the AirHeads were capable of that. I know, I followed one cruising 80+MPH on I-80 thru the...

Helmet Standards

Interesting that some now think that the SNELL standard helmet might be too hard and increase the incidence of traumatic head injury.

Re: Getting a new bike home from 250 miles away

ride it... the faster you get used to riding in traffic the better.

If you have to use a van, buy ratcheted straps. Infinitely useful. I used a van when I bought mine (it was pouring rain) and the straps worked like a charm.
