Re: Can I Use a Battery Quick Connect to Charge Phone?
There's not enough current involved to require a relay. That powerlet adapter looks good. Years ago, I had a powerlet-to-cigarette-lighter adapter, then plugged a car lighter charger into that. Worked fine.

Re: Sitting at light......neutral or 1st gear?
Boy, I'd hate to lane-split myself up to the front of the line at a light, only to find myself between two cars, wondering what to do when the light turns green; drag race hard to get in front so I could claim a lane? Let people go and look for a gap in one lane or the other? If I lane-split at a li...

It keeps the bike from smelling up the garage with gasoline fumes. Your choice.

Re: Dramatic Power Loss/ Engine Knocking on interstate.
Sounds like you swallowed an exhaust valve, and/or broke a piston. Both pretty rare, neither caused by gas additives, both hard to repair on the road. I'd take off the left valve cover and make sure everything's still there, take a flashlight and find the source of the oil leak. That should answer a...

Re: Advice on buying dropped r1150r
I think maybe the seller doesn't know that the rattling noise is normal and attributes it to something broken. And it could be that normal noise. The seller deals with repo'd and salvage bikes. The seller did take off the head cover and said nothing was broken inside. Rattling noise is normal for a...

Re: Advice on buying dropped r1150r
My question is, should I buy and attempt to fix this bike, given its just replacing the cam chain tensioner? Can dropping the bike really break that part? Or would you suspect there is damage inside the engine as well. Boy, I can't imagine how the cam chain tensioner could be damaged by a drop; it'...

Re: Consumer Reports tests Motorcycles
4,700 is a significant sample of the bikes tested -- which isn't all of them. Anyway, the question had to do with manufacturers, not models, and the article is a report on what owners had to say.

Hm. 4,700 bikes is statistically significant.

Re: Digital tire gauge for the RR?
I never had a leakage problem, but I suspect it's a technique fix. Squeeze the catch lever open and firmly press the tube down straight onto the valve stem. There will be a little squirt of air until you're pressing hard enough. Release catch lever. There's supposed to be a little O-ring inside the ...

Re: Digital tire gauge for the RR?
I use a non-digital gauge with a hose. That was the only way I could get a straight shot at the valve stem. You can clamp it onto the stem and either pump air through it to top up, or release a little bleed valve to lower the pressure, while still measuring.

Re: Stock shocks adjustment
I think there is a damping adjustment screw on both shocks, and a preload spring adjustment knob on the rear shock. I think I read somewhere that the damping screws should be tightened all the way in, then back 'em out one and a half turns, then adjust to taste.

Re: Before I Replace The Rear Wheel?
Hm. I just checked my Clymer manual to be sure. It says no lubrication to the wheel bolts, which makes some sense, since lube will reduce the torque required to stretch the bolt to failure. I'd clean everything real good, make sure to install the tapered sleeves on the wheel bolts, and put it togeth...

Re: Mediocre headlight conversion question
The dual asymetric headlight setup is standard on the Rockster model. I don't think the Rockster headlights are plug-n-play on the Roadster, but they may be adaptable. I use the standard low seat with an Airhawk inflatable pad. I find it pretty comfortable.
