Re: Is this forum dead?

So I lurk too, but have nothing worthwhile to share. This bike is really great, what can I say?

Re: Anybody else preorder the Mudsling rear fender guard?

I bought one for my 2008 R12R, but haven't ordered one yet for my new bike. Not sure I will, not because it isn't a nice item, it is, but because I am only riding 7,000 miles/year these days and believe the unprotected suspension will outlast me.

Re: The Radiator

The November 2015 issue of Rider just came out and has a road test of both the 2015 R1200R and the 2016 R1200RS. Mark Tuttle wrote the review. On page 47 he says "Engine heat was never an issue on either bike, though the catalytic converter can bake your right foot on long rides in warm weather...

Re: New Sport-Touring shield for R1200R LC

I agree, looks too tall and too vertical. I have to reiterate that the wee fairings available from BMW are really good. Mine is the "tall" screen. It is all of about 12" high, but it works like a dream keeping the pressure off my chest while allowing plenty of clean air to keep me com...

Re: R1150R v new R1200R LC

I ride mine in Rain mode all the time because it is more forgiving. Dynamic mode is too abrupt for me too. Not sure what to make of your experience with horrible tingling through the bars. Mine is calm as a kitten at least at the speeds and revs that I ride. It almost sounds like the fuel injectors ...

Re: musings on helmet intercoms and the BMW Nav V system

I think your review will help others to decide to buy this system. Your write up is well done. My choice to not consider it has a lot to do with the restrictions you mention. For example, I do not care for Schuberth helmets at all. My riding style includes deliberately trying to get lost when time p...

This is extremely helpful information. Thanks for posting. I was not sure about this from get go. Now I know that it is not for me.

Re: R1150R v new R1200R LC

I had a R1150R that I bought new in 2002. It was a very nice motorcycle and I rode it for over 4 years with little to complain about. Then I traded it for a new 2008 R1200R, a bike that I liked even better. In fact that R1200R was the nicest Beemer I had ridden until this new one came along. BMWs ju...

Re: R1150R v new R1200R LC

I'm curious, Since its been out awhile, has there been any negative reports on the new motor yet? breakdowns, design flaws? heres a lisst of the GS problems, some engine issues.... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1004037 I'm pretty much sold on a blue one at some point. Its grown on...

The Radiator

For those of us who live in a hot climate, a bike with a radiator is a mixed bag. And for a naked bike the chance to channel hot air coming through the radiator by redirection via body work is negated. And so it is with the new wasser-boxer. I was going to wait until the end of summer to report on t...

Re: R1150R v new R1200R LC

It's not just me. Multi bike BMW fanatics, be they current or consecutive owners for decades, also sneer at those USD forks replacing the TeleLever. No longer can you add-on a superior Ohlins front suspension (the shock) for around $1,300. Gone will be the amazing bumpy corner stability and lack of...

Re: R1150R v new R1200R LC

Gregor, You really need to ride one to know what they are like. For me the new wasserboxer is a nicer bike to ride than my 2008 R1200R, which was a nicer bike to ride than my 2002 R1150R. All nice bikes of course. Everyone has their own reasons for liking certain bikes better than others. Since I do...

Re: Pricing?!

With panniers, the tall windscreen, tank bag, tax and tags mine came to slightly under $19K. It has all the options except keyless ignition. Mine is the dark grey/almost black version. Let this be fair warning, black Beemers are faster.

"I kind of thought the same - hence the CeeBailey on my '07, but the rental R12R's we used on the euro trip last fall only had the tiny sport screen, and despite some days of crappy weather, and high-speed travel on the AutoBahn under poor weather conditions, I rather came to like the small scr...

Re: 2015 R1200R Owners Thread

You mean "stop turning and get stopped by oncoming traffic"? This happens in this country for riders entering a right hand turn going too fast. "There is no single correct way of doing this, it depends on the situation. I also learned about "the bike up and stop", but that c...

Re: Windshields for 2015 R1200R

With a full face helmet I find the clean air fine with the BMW touring "tall" screen. I live in NY. I still have a very lightly used full face helmet in my arsenal, but find them unbearably hot down here. I use an open face Arai and try really, really hard to avoid face plants. When I liv...

Re: 2015 R1200R Owners Thread

Interesting comments on Telelever. I will stand by mine. My "S" turn is in no way as good a test as the environment that Joe rides in out in California so his observations are much more significant than mine. My road was smooth in those turns although on the same ride I went over some very...
