Re: Advice Needed - New Helmet

Get the one that fits you best. ACU or SHARP ratings are no good if it's too loose and falls off, or too tight and is so painful it's distracting. Plenty of shops have multiple brands - go spend an afternoon trying them on and find 2 or 3 that fit well, and comfortably, then see what their ratings a...

Re: 2004 R1150R Normal oil consumption

It's an air cooled engine with 515cc cylinders and pistons, using a very, very hard cylinder liner for longevity. The upshot is that the engineering tolerances are quite "open", and the cylinder and rings don't "bed in" as quickly as some other engines. Think of it more as mainta...

Hi, 1. The forum is stable, it was never unstable. 2. There are Russian Bots spamming the board, and it takes work to keep it clean. Hundreds of porn posts a day, and the delete mechanics are not exact. Hence, the subject of this thread. Unlike recent fake news, our Russian bots are real. 3. The bo...

Re: Caliper Rebuild & Advice From Cyclerob

Oh yeah...How do the lines remove from the fender (black clips)? Going from doing this over 10 years ago :-k Look at the underside of the fender and you'll see a split cone shaped barb. Each half of that split cone is attached to one side of the brake hose clamp. With the fender on I believe it wil...

Were you turning slightly?

If so its probably the dreaded ignition wiring failure at the headstock.

Re: Rockster Headlights

Not much movement in this forum is there? Well add my two cents worth. I didn't like the way mind bounced around either so what I found was a couple of judiciously placed cable ties around the rubber grommets dramatically reduce the movement although I didn't do them too tight so I still had some a...

Re: 2004 noise from front of engine. overrun pulley?

Can you tell where the noise is coming from? A one-way bearing on the alternator is a new one on me, clattering is normally the valves or the cam-chain. The cam-chain adjuster on the LHS (IIRC) is know to need updating and I think most of us have done it now (Reminds me - I probably need to do Rock4).

Re: BMW waterproof gear-anybody use it?

Upate: I recently bought a 2018 BMW Streetguard jacket off the sales rack (at a 40% discount). Weirdly - it's the smallest size BMW do (46) and it fits me perfectly (I am NOT BMW's smallest customer.... by a long shot). Unfortunately, the first shower proved that it didn't have waterproof outer pock...

Re: I'm Baaaaaaa-aack!

Quick update - the FD bearings are all sorted, many thanks to MotoScot near Luton - highly recommended! Gave the bikes a clean - they come up well :) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48445979126_04907cb2d8_b.jpg (shoddy photo due to poor lens on phone-camera). Discovered the K has a sodding punct...

Does this sort of thing happen a lot in the US?? I've never seen anything like that in the UK....

(Normally it just takes one bike catching up to another to start a 'race'..... :D )

Good to hear. Sounds like your dealer values you as a good customer! Even though they dealer principle has changed, and the staff has cycled completely (at least twice) since I started, they're still very good to me, especially after they check my history on their CRM system.... ;) (I've spent a fa...

I think it looks great.
The only thing I'm not sure on is the red bead around the wheels. It probably looks better in the metal, but I'm not sure that little detail 'fits'.
