Re: I'm Baaaaaaa-aack!

So far it's cost just over a grand, but that does include a FULL service, the fuel pump, new coil-caps, 3 calipers, new hoses and a few other smaller items. If I'd bought a bike in MUCH better condition, I'd probably still be spending at least half of what I'm spending on this one - there's things I...

I've no idea if anyone's found them before, but I've finally turned some up, in Italy of all places. https://www.unitgarage.com/fork_gaiters They do quite a range of bits if you want to turn your R-R into an ersatz GS. https://www.unitgarage.com/bwm/r1150r/r1150r They do some interesting things to ...

Re: Not Starting

Get the bike running on the centre-stand, then turn the steering back and forth. If it cuts out then you've most likely got broken wiring in the cable looms that run past the steering head. Common issue. You can actually replace the ignition switch wiring loom without replacing the ignition switch. ...

Re: Bevel box to swingarm bearing upgrade kit ???

The instructions certainly "sound" simple.

I have to say - on Rock3 I don't think I ever greased the bearings, and only had them nipped up once (iirc), in over 10 years and 120,000+ miles.

They're very (dare I say it!) "hipstery".

Re: Retaining Pin Removal

With caliper ON bike: 1 remove the circlip/c-clip retainer on the outside of the pin 2 use small punch (an appropriately sized allen key can be used - ie small!) and GENTLY tap with a hammer until pin is free 3 NOW remove caliper from bike. :) Oh - and DO NOT FORGET to lubricate the slide pins on th...

Wasn't the general consensus if you run the oil level at the top of the glass it will burn more oil?
1/2 to 3/4 up the glass was better?

Re: Fuel Pump

I stuck a bottle of STP injector cleaner in it today, and a tankful of Super unleaded (slightly higher octane). Odd thing is..... the bike appeared to be running better BEFORE I did that. Yesterday I also took out the vast majority of the slack in the throttle cable. The bike is still hesitating sli...

Re: Not Starting

Its should have done at least something even if it’s a pop or a bang. I would possibly try a ‘sniff’ of easy start ether based down the air intake before we go any further. Tigcraft, I did spray a small amount of starter fluid into the intake and it worked. I ran the bike for the weekend, starting ...
