Re: ABS Brake Failure
Tic Tac, I was in residual mode on the rear. Flushed The Who,e system twice, replaced pads, replaced battery all with no change. Reviewed with dealer and another local mechanic who removes the abs on this bike, and they both gave me no hope. So I removed it and have moved on. It was not that hard, a...

Re: Servo Questions! Ah, help!!!
Same thing happened to mine this year. Instead of replacing the $2600 part I pulled it and went to normal brakes. Kinda like them. If I had the part no cost, I'd probably try a replacement but as Peels said negotiate all your labor into the price-it'll take some time plus a full system flush. If you...

Re: POLL: What seat are you using?
Wunderlich low seat. Wish it was regular height instead. Mine came with the high comfort seat, which is still a little too high-makes you sit on top of the bike instead of more in the bike. Tried the standard and low heights also. Still looking for the nice regular height seat.

Re: Panniers / saddlebags
I had a Givi knockoff fitted for years and got tired of the look so just replaced it with a Pelican case. Sleeker but not as much height or volume.

Re: ABS Brake Failure
Last of the parts came today. ABS is gone. Canister too (was plugged solid). Thanks Sweatmark for your instructions and Towerworker for the advice. Really wasn't too bad once I accepted the failure... Test ride down the street and all appears to be in order with new tires, brake pads, fuel and air f...

Re: ABS Brake Failure
Thanks again Wayne for the offer of support. It's against my nature to just remove something that was originally a big part of my R, but apparently I would get over that :) This was my first bike in about 25 years when I bought it slightly used in 2008 and I've been very happy with it until this (wh...

Re: ABS Brake Failure
Rode it down the street last night with battery at full voltage and same failed rear brake. Called the dealer today just to hear what they thought, sounds like they're familiar with the issue, and not much hope it could be something minor. Theyre a month out  That'll give me time to play around...

Thanks Wayne appreciate the offer. Perhaps then you could help me figure out how to change the antifreeze!

Re: ABS Brake Failure
Peels, Yeah, I flushed all four circuits-twice. Unit to calipers and reservoirs to unit(all 6 bleeders). Wasn't happy with the first flush and my mityvac abilities, so did it all again for good measure(and battery, air filter, and fuel filter) before the tank went back on. The residual rear brake no...

Re: ABS Brake Failure
Thanks for the reply Wayne. Yeah, I read your posts before, and kinda thought that's what I'm in for, but I'm just getting past the Denial Stage... Hate to pull it all out if it is just some other little thing, but seems like diagnosis is a difficult thing. You speak highly of removal as do some oth...

ABS Brake Failure
My rear brake has no servo and is in residual mode, and the warning light is on and the brake failure light flashing 4 HZ. Due to issues I did not ride this bike at all last year except for one short ride down the street to exercise it. When I did the lights came on and rear brake went residual. I t...

Re: new tires for my old bike
I've got some old PR2's on my bike also. They're about 6 years old and have about 23,000 miles on them. I didn't realize how worn they were (no cords but just pretty cupped,..) until I parked it for winter. I bought some PR2's about 4 years ago and am just installing them now because there was life...

Re: new tires for my old bike
I don't recommend running them that far, but my mileage on this bike is primarily straight pavement commuting, I'm not a large person and I ride pretty tame... I ran the Metzlers that were on the bike when I got it at 7,000 miles all the way to about 22,000, so they went at least 15K miles. I've bee...

Make sure you select the correct Viscosity.
And don't use any of that that Metric stuff!

Re: tire talk
Is there a reference anywhere for MOST MILEAGE? Personally, I would sacrifice some handling for straight line wear. Just to try it. I commute in a straight 7 mile line to work, the strips show quickly. :) I owned MIchelin Pilots on my streetbike, those handled fantastically, but wore out crazy fast...

Re: Tire Recommendations
Michelin PR2's. My bike came with the Metzler Z6's, and they squared off pretty good although it was after many miles. The PR2's rode so nicely after I put them on they were much better, and still ride well after many many miles. I won't tell you how many cause last time some thought it was too much...

Re: Heated gear adapter?
If the adapter you refer to is a wire with a connector wired directly to the battery, then there are some of those that are only rated for smaller power (like 7.5 amps) while others are rated for more(like 15 amps). For instance there are standard battery tender connectors with SAE ends (a male and ...
