Re: Off to a great...wait, my bike won't Start!
Based on information provided you have fuel and ignition, is everything happening at the right time? Motronic reset and/or the throttle cable on the left side displaced? that's all I got.

Re: Valve Cover/Powder Coating
I had my skid plate (under ride protection) coated with truck bed liner material on the underside and the inside was powder coated. I wanted the engine side smooth in case clean-up became necessary, while the underside would resist scrapes and rock hits. The black color makes it less obvious that it...

Depending on how big those items are they could fit in the space in the side covers. I have the power supply for my sat radio in one side and a puncture kit in the other.

Re: Front Wheel Noise
It could be the pad material, the only difference between before and after is the brand/material of the pads. If you still have the old pads you could try putting them back in and see if the noise goes away. If the front bearing(s) are bad/shot it would be felt/heard when spinning the wheel, you cou...

Aux socket is limited to 5 amps (60 watts) not enough for Electric clothing. You will need to hard wire to battery or add a aux fuse panel for extras.

Re: Rear box mounting
Choices for a rear rack only are limited, but there are a couple; 1. I believe the Hepco Becker rack can be mounted by itself without pannier racks. 2. The Givi Rack for the 2006 - 2010 could be used in conjunction with a flat plate. 3. I also think the SW-Motech Alu-rack toprack, may be the easiest...

Re: Fastway or similar footpegs for the 04-06 R1150R
SW-Motech On-Road/Off-Road foot pegs will fit, the R1150R is not listed as a fit but the ones for the F650CS (see link) will. I had them mounted on my previous R1150R and they improved the comfort a lot, with the rubber removed they are Off-Road pegs. They can be adjusted to two differnt heights, In...

Givi makes many different models to fit on top of their cases, most are between $80 -$100 but they do sell a "universal" one for $39

Re: Running lights stopped working
Not sure which running light you are referring to? The R1150R factory configuration for lighting is a city light (small bulb in headlight), Low Beam (on when running) taillight (always on). The turn signals are not lit as running lights, does your bike have an aftermarket turn signal cancel add-on? ...

Re: PERFORMANCE ISSUE??
Kirby; If you Google the term Motorcycle overdrive transmission, the results are in line with what I am saying. Based on the numbers for indicated RPM's & road speed I think you have the sport trans, the RPM's (3600/100=36 X2=72) on my touring trans were always about 50% of the indicated road sp...

Re: PERFORMANCE ISSUE??
Kirby, I think you have that backwards it takes .7 revolutions of the crankshaft to turn the drive shaft 1 revolution or the drive shaft rotates 1.43 revolutions per engine revolution. It takes 2.82 turns of the drive shaft to turn the wheel one revolution, which multiplies the torque by 2.82 at a g...

Re: PERFORMANCE ISSUE??
It all comes down to the final drive ratio, 1999 R1100 3.0 vs Rockster 2.82. Even though BMW added a sixth gear they also raised the final drive ratio, the 1150 are tough to get rolling. I had the "Touring" transmission with the .70 overdrive sixth I think all of the Rocksters had the &quo...

4 cylinders and 999cc would have to be a S1000R (S series roadster) or prehaps was sending you info on the upcomming S1000XR (has a intergated fairing). R series models are 2 cylinder boxer engine.

Re: 32 mpg? :(
I find interesting that people calculate the mpg but do not go the next step and calculate the cost per mile = mpg/cost per gallon. In many newer cars/trucks/bikes they can use a lower grade/octane but at reduced performance and/or mpg, in many cases the better grade will not cost additional money d...

Re: 32 mpg? :(
What grade of gas are you using? 89 is the min recommened 91/93 better still. Anything above 60 mph (100kph) should be in sixth ride the torque, if you run in the 80's that would help to explain some of the reduction. I found mine liked 70 - 75 in 6th 3600 - 3800 RPM best and gave the best milage. I...

Re: 32 mpg? :(
The only question I would ask is: at what RPM range are you riding the bike? when riding my 04 I found that it liked to be kept above the 3000-3200 rpm's, over 4000 the milage will start to go down. The boxer twins are about torque not rpm's, ridden like a supersport in the upper rpm range will effe...

Re: MRA X-creen w/ Cee Baileys Sport Shield?
I have the X-Screen on a Cee Baileys sport shield, I have the bolt on one. A couple of observations; 1. The Cee Bailys shield is not as thick as I would like it to be, even without the extension it does flex at the top. I believe that the flex is due to the thickness of the material, the low mountin...

Re: Where did the oil go?
Check the oil upon arrival (hot oil), 5 mins or less on sidestand, then centerstand looking for the oil to be >= 1/2 and < full in the sight glass. Checking before departure (cold oil), tends to give false readings. Overfilling contributes to oil usage.

The first of the Hexheads was the 2005 R1200GS, could be that production started in 11/03 with them being "early" 2005's available sometime in the spring of 2004. Just as the upcomming R1200 RS and S1000 XR are both 2016 models and will be available during or after the second quarter of 20...

The brackets pictured in the Beemer Boneyard link above are the Touring/Sport Screen brackets, those brackets were only available with the above mentioned windshields from ZTechnik not as individual parts from BMW.
