Re: Fuel Strip
Oh I hear you. If and when mine goes, even though the bike is 15 years old, I will bite the bullet and replace the strip. Seems that's the least of my issues at the moment.

Brake noise
I know this forum doesn't see much traffic anymore, but thought I'd try. '08 R1200R. I have this intermittent brake noise I believe is related to the front calipers, sounds like the pad is shifting and rubbing on something. I don't use grease on the back of the pads. It happens only at slow speeds w...

Re: New Clutch feels different / sensitive , normal?
Nice, glad that worked out. That makes sense. It's amazing how used to degrading performance I get used to on things that wears so slowly. Every time I change a clutch or even tires, I notice how bad I let let the quality of the ride go before addressing it--- and without fail, every time I replace ...

Re: New Clutch feels different / sensitive , normal?
Not really sure, but maybe they messed with the clutch lever adjuster on the handlebar? Is the setting different than when you took the bike in? I noticed riding my brother's r12r that he had his lever set on the shortest setting, so the clutch engagement difference between the shortest on his, and ...

Re: Fuel Strip
On the fuel strip subject. I am preparing for the 4th one on my 2008 R1200R. The first one lasted 6 years, second 4 years, third less than a year. Has anyone else seen this trend? This will jinx me, but (knock on wood) I am still on my first replacement strip on my 08. I think someone placed a bit ...

Re: Noise from Michelin Road 5
I think the Pilot Road 4's are all GT tires (for the heaver bikes). There might be some regular ones left out there but they would be older tires and i don't need them on my bike. I made the mistake of getting a GT tire once, it was a bear to get on the rim as the side walls are a lot stiffer than ...

Re: Noise from Michelin Road 5
Ok I'm kind of done with the Michleins, funny wear pattern even though everything is the same as when I ran PR-III and PR-IV. In the spring I'll need new tires, thinking of Dunlop Roadsmart III. Comments, thoughts or hopefully a review from someone that ran Dunlops. Just remembered this thread. I w...

Re: Directional Signal cancellation.
There is a way to reset the length of delay of the self cancellation gs911, maybe it got reset to no delay when the repair was completed or the sensor was damaged?
If I remember correctly, it was under special functions section, if that's what it is even called.

Re: Battery Test
Did you try disconnecting the leads to the injectors? Curious and too lazy to try that myself to see the outcome. How far you are from a BMW dealer. My local one will always let me drop in and load test the batter with the BMW battery tester and I do put some faith in that one. If pulling the leads ...

Did you ever track this down?
Along with the above suggestions, do you have a gs911 or similar device to see what the engine temp actually is?

Re: 2011 - R1200r - K27 - Rear Main Seal or Counter Balance Leak
No worries at all! I had about 45,000 on it. I really am hoping I got the seal in correctly, always worries me. I think the next time through I could do it much faster. Read after the fact somewhere that one guy doesn't split the bike completely. He loosesns the top mount and just pivots the rear as...

Re: 2011 - R1200r - K27 - Rear Main Seal or Counter Balance Leak
Well that was a job. I get why the shop just replaces everything in there along the way. Unfortunately, I did not and will likely be redoing this in the near future.

Re: 2011 - R1200r - K27 - Rear Main Seal or Counter Balance Leak
I know this is an old thread, but I just noticed a leak in that same area on my 08 and was wondering how the repair turned out in the long run? Still leak free with replacing those two seals?

Hmm, that's concerning. I thought the $180 was bad enough. Thanks for the info!GTS29640 wrote:Yes, they're around $300 with the tax now. Max BMW has them for $276.
It looks like there was a design change in 2015. When this was no longer a regular production item the price probably went up.
