Re: Windshield Bracket Removal Impossible?

Just had to finally deal with my R1150R windscreen brackets. I tried various combinations of what others have recommended and finally settled on cutting off the 6mm ball head allen key off one of the those cheap fold out allen key sets from Harbor Freight and cutting it about 1.25" long with a ...

Re: r1100r vs r1150r

So what's the owner of the 1150R say about the rash? I say go lean towards it, you'll like the extra gear and heated grips, FWIW my buddy after riding mine sold his '99 1100 and got a 2004 1150R. Not matter how low mi and good condtion the 1100 is, thats an old bike for over $4k.

Re: Mike Camellitti (MikeCam) is MISSING in WV Forest

Yeah, recently dug up some old topics where Mike's input was - as always - considered, concise, considerate, valuable. He is missed here. agree, only met him once on a ride years ago and seemed like a great guy. I know his case was also posted on WV and VA riding threads on ADVrider but not seen an...

how do I tighten the allen bolts on wind screen brackets?

OK, am I missing something here? The left side upper bracket for my touring wind screen has come loose cause the allen bolt has loosened but no standard shaped/size allen wrench will fit onto the bolt head because the black brackets are in the way. I've thought of taking a dremel or hack saw to an a...

Re: turning a roadster into a RT

In my experience, adding GS handguards for more cold protection won't do much, maybe adds 5-10 min delay before your hands are just has cold without them. They however, do extend rain protection in a light/mild rain I'd say for a good 30 min more.

Re: Winter Riding Gloves

I totally agree ASQTec, for me the handguards have done little to help keep hands warm. I have whimpy hands, but in my experience with my Fieldsheer Eskimo gloves (100gm thinsulate) and grip warmers on hi, temps from 38-30, my thumbs and finger tips are cold in 45min. Above 40 my hands are generally...

Re: Quick Release-Fuel Line

Another option - Use a small flat bladed screw driver to prise open the crimped section of the clamp that holds the fuel line onto the QD. Hold the QD with pliers as you wrestle with this operation. When the crimped band is sufficiently loose slide it off the collar that is underneath it, then slid...

That sounds like a great deal, and they won't be laughing when you blow them away in the twistys or certainly have no problem staying on their tail.

Go for it, and enjoy!

Re: ME Z4 and Z6 Roadtec/Interact

I have the PR2s now as replacements for the PR1s, I can't say exactly why but I like the feel of the PR1s better, especialy now that the PR2s are down to <50% of useful life. I can feel the tread grooves "vibrate" sometimes on the rear tire when leaned over deep into a curve. I got my firs...

Re: R1100R vs R1150R vs R1150Rockster

Xdot- I think the prices for the R1100R's were a bit too high anyway, even with ABS. They are a 10+yr old bike, but really a 15 yr old model since came out in 1995 I believe. My buddy switched from riding an R1100R for 5yrs to the 1150 and is very happy.

Re: r1150r..is it the right bike for me?

Congrats. I think if you add a BMW or Givi topcase wit the backrest pad the pillion ride will be much more comfy, and most likely you'll be getting an after market seat too or a sheepskin butt pad.
