Re: broke the drive shaft!!

Yup. Had a lot of fun at my last track day folks. On the way home I thought the cluth was slipppping..... Got home on a tow truck. :( The dealer showed me the drive shaft, he said that has only happened twice, this one on your 12R and your previus 1150R Mr So exactly what are you doing that is brea...

The Auto-cancel is based off distance traveled. If the Speedo isn't working, and the ABS is shut down, I would assume a speed sensor (probably rear) is down.

The speed sensor is known to collect metal bits from the final drive. It could be as simple as the sensor needing to be cleaned off.

Knocking... can we help a new owner out?

I sold my beloved 1150R last Sunday and the new owner is having some trouble: Sunday when I rode the bike home from WI I had to slow down to about 20 mph for road construction and when I did the bike acted like it was running out of oil, the oil light didn't come on but the engine started to knock l...

I have spoken with Paige at Aeroflow and he emailed me a rough diagram of how to install bar-backs with his windshield. I can tell you the Gen-Mar bar-backs will not work with Aeroflow. I purchased the Moto-Tech Bar-Backs and have yet to install them with my Aeroflow Windshield but I do not anticip...

Aeroflow and barbacks

I seem to remember a rider here (bmrluvr?) who met Paige at Aeroflow and talked about making the setup work with barbacks. Does anybody have any details about this? I just sold the 1150R and the new owner would like to get barbacks, I'm trying to help him out.

Thanks in Advance,
Jason

I tried every BMW shield and a number of different combinations. Here are my thoughts: -If you are looking to use anything other than the speedster screen, you should seriously look at using the Aeroflow tank wings. There is a lot of turbulent air coming under the handlebars over the oil coolers. Th...

OP -- Did you use 75W-140 or 75W-90? Just curious 'cause I'm about to do my 12k service and want to switch to synthetic. I believe it was the 75W-90. The shifting was really crap and it just didn't feel right. My mechanic told me he has had several other oilhead riders with the same experience and ...

I used Mobil 1 in my tranny and FD and the tranny didn't seem to like it. I went back to BMW brand and it's been fine since then.

If everything seems fine to you with Mobil 1, then I wouldn't change it. If you're looking for other alternatives, I've heard good things about Redline.

Just kind of a fun thing I started doing. It's a little piece of home I bring around with me. And after all, Paddington is a born adventurer, to leave him at home seems cruel.

Beakster sightings over the weekend. IL/IN/OH

I rode from Peoria, IL to Cleveland, OH on Friday and the reverse Monday. Route 74 between Peoria and Indy, Route 70 between Indy and Columbus, and Route 71 between Columbus and Cleveland. I saw a couple 1150r riders on the trip and wanted to see if it was any of you crazy cats. -I saw two riders (b...

I have GS handguards and aeroflow tank wings mounted. They touch very slightly, but it isn't a problem.

looking at the two, it appears the main differences are *fairing lowers *bags *luggage rack *different handlebars *taller screeen 3 bolt on additions and 2 simple swaps. Unless the ST has cruise or something similiar the price should be close to the S otherwise you could just buy the S and mod it up...

from http://www.bmwhp.org/content.asp?ID=1065&CLASS=NEWS F800ST dry weight is to be under 190 kg (420 lbs), it looks like the S should drop the luggage rack, fairing lowers, and maybe a few other things so I could see it being under 400 lbs dry. I guess that's a solid 50 lbs. more than collyers ...

I hope that the 800S weighs 350lbs & has 75+BHP - otherwise, why bother? I've heard that's what we should expect... It looks good, except for the giant rubber-band drive. I prefer rubber-bands 8) How does she ride in those CFM shoes? depends on which type of "riding" you're referring ...
