Re: Tried R1100r, but didn't like
I like my R11, but not nearly as much as my '85 K100RT. Man that K was FAST.
I'm ready for a fresh mount now tho, after 10 years with this one.
Next bike......prolly a ST1300.

Re: My touring setup
My mission now - find a better, more comfortable seat!! I have an Air Hawk seat cushion but, even with this, can only tolerate about an hour or hour 15 min or so between rest stops before I start fidgeting about trying to find a more comfortable seating sensation. Yeah no kidding. I got to the poin...

Living in Colorado has its rewards. Here's how it looks in July. The oilhead is mine, the K belongs to my buddy. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Flopster/100_1165.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Flopster/100_1155.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Flopster/100_1154.jpg

"Rattling" after-market brake pads?
Well after several pad changes over the past ten years, and hundreds of dollars (literally), I decided to try some cheapie ebay pads this season. They work great, and I saved a bundle. But....I get a constant rattle from the left side, and only the left side. Having bought two sets of the cheapie pa...

Re: Steering damper removal?
Ya it's definitely there for a reason, and not just for extreme tank slapping events. It provides general front end stability. Mine is finally wearing out after 66K. It has only minimal resistance at the outermost points of travel, and appears to have started leaking a little as well. Result: I can ...

Re: R1100R Uncomfortable Seat!!
I've done it to another bike in the past. Worked well, did'nt look all that great.
I've been searching since winter for a used R11R seat to carve up, and still have my stock one intact for when I sell the bike. Ebay continually shows every imaginable BMW seat listed except a 850/1100. (argh!)

Re: R1100R Uncomfortable Seat!!
The stock seat on mine sucks, too. I even fabbed a riser to lift the front about 1/2". That helped the "forward pitch" fairly well, but that's not the biggest issue for me. The seat's front "hump" is jammed into my crotch, after a couple hours I gotta get off for a while. To...

Laminar Lip, anyone?
Any other users out there? I installed one this year, works pretty good. Not 100% effective, but still a big-time improvement for the stock shield, especially at hwy speeds. I'm still monkeying with the final position, hence all the Duralast dots. The higher the better for me, I think I can squeeze ...

Re: valve adjustment...
Excellent... Is it possible for you to post a photo or diagram of your manometer? This is the one I (basically) copied.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Flopster/martycarbsync.jpg Actually, the yardstick only serves as a cheap vertical platform for the tubing. With the engine running, the ...

Re: valve adjustment...
Today I balanced my throttle bodies with my homemade manometer, which consisted of.... * One yardstick. * 20' length of clear plastic tubing, 1/8" ID. * Couple ounces two-stroke oil. * A few feet of clear packaging tape. In my case it worked pretty good, as my throttles were way out of balance ...

Re: valve adjustment...
I just did 'em on my '99 last week. Very easy. Got the feeler gauge set off ebay for $12. (could'nt find them locally) I did manage to strip one of the adjuster screws. Be careful torquing down the adjuster nuts, and also the valve cover bolts. A new adjuster screw/nut was $11 at my local dealer. I ...

Stripped valve adjuster?
Great site!
Hello everyone, new member here with an embarrassing question.
Has anyone ever over-torqued a valve adjuster nut/screw? If so, how difficult was the fix?
Thanks in advance.
