Re: Need help finding brake part

Thanks, I found a used master cylinder on Ebay for $20 that had the fitting on it. Problem solved.

Need help finding brake part

2004 R1150R On the rear brake pedal there's a clevace (a U-shaped fitting) that connects the rear of the brake pedal to the push rod that goes up into the master cyclinder. Mine fell off somewhere in the Arkansas Ozarks about 400 miles from home. Now I can't find the part anywhere. Beemer Boneyard w...

Disappearing posts, twice this week

I posted twice this week seeking advise on getting longer hydraulic lines to raise my bars. Both disappeared after a day. What's the deal with this forum?

Re: Excessive Heat ?! Please Help

Don't pass off the air-flow mixture as not terribly important. If you're running lean it's going to make a big difference in the heat it puts out. Since you've removed the airbox and put on a free flow exhaust those both could contribute to a lean condition. I'd mainly be concerned with a leak aroun...

Re: Just bought a 2004 R1150R...need battery tender recommendations

I have the factory original that came with my 2004 1150R. When I bought my bike last year, (with 5,100 miles on it), the original owner gave me the original BMW charger that he got with the bike in 04. He said it didn't work so I bought a new Optimate 5 Voltmatic at the recommendation of a local bik...

I just want to say, I'm grateful for this forum. I have crash bars sitting in the garage right now, ready to install. This post saved me troubles I hadn't even considered but surely would have run into. Thanks guys!

Re: LED Signal Bulb Issue

Are LED bulbs directional? My knowledge of electrical stuff is pretty bad, but a friend told me that if a bulb doesn't work I should try turning it 180 degrees, or swapping the positions of the spade connections.

Re: Sidecases - Really Stumped On This One

Just checked Bob's BMW site and noticed that the part numbers there are slightly different there from what is in the cases I received. On the site they are 46542317623 (left) and 46547660300 (right). Only the last three digits are different. I'd guess that those just represent the date of manufactur...

Re: Sidecases - Really Stumped On This One

I bought new BMW cases just last month for a 2004 R 1150R from Bob's BMW during a 25% off sale. They fit like a charm but the price was hard to swallow. You'll need two side mounting rails and a rear rack, left and right case bodies (different sizes to fit around the exhaust), two locks, emblems, re...

Re: Need new tires....what do you like?

I'll be ordering the Metzler RoadTec 01 at my local dealer tomorrow. Staying with the factory size rear, 170-60. This comes after obsessively searching for and reading every written tire review, video, and discussion board thread I could find. It comes down to people's impressions of quick/smooth ha...

The center of the tire on my 04 r1150 lines up with the centerline of the shock mount.

Re: One heated grip

Finally got the tank off and found the problem. You guys were right, syskospain, sweatmark, towerworker, and AZBMWRIDER. The wires are both broken somewhere between the connection under the tank and the right side grip but there's no place where the insulation looks damaged enough to cause a problem...

Need new tires....what do you like?

I'm looking something for long distance all-weather touring. So far, I like the Pirelli Angel GT or the Metzler RoadTec 01. The Michelin Road 5 would be my first choice but I don't think they make it in 170/60, (they DO make a 180/55 which, I think, the Rockster came with). Would I be asking for pro...

Re: Aviation Fuel

Av gas won't hurt it, and it doesn't normally have any alcohol. Octane is simply a rating of the speed at which fuel burns. I've used av gas in everything from a lawn mower (when that's all I had), to my 1970 Chevelle and they all love it. The biggest problem with alcohol in gas is that alcohol will...

Re: I am so excited to be back!

This should be perfect timing for you since I just got my first BMW this past July, a 2004 R1150R ABS in Silver. It had only 5,100 miles on it and was bone stock except for an LED tail light. I immediately starting researching and getting stuff to make it more comfortable for long trips. Here's a li...

Re: Brake pedal height adjustment?

Just noticed that your post seeks to raise the pedal, not lower it. Most often these discussions revolve around lowering it, my mistake, but the same principles apply. If you have long legs like me you might want to consider lowering the footpegs and this would alieviate having to raise the brake le...

Re: Brake pedal height adjustment?

Photoguy is dead on. I've had the same experiences with my 2004, (including getting the adjuster-bolt head caught under the brake light switch but catching it before breaking anything). If you look closely at the linkage on the rear brake lever it should be obvious how to adjust the height. Shorten ...
