Re: BEAKSTER BASH XV LaVale, Md May 16-20, 2018

Looks like it was a bit of luck that I couldn’t attend this years Bash. On Tuesday we had tornados in the area and a macro burst that took out thousands of trees and power in CT and NY. I’ve been on a generator since then and power will be restored sometime later this week. I would have canceled due...

Re: Improving 2004 R1150R: AF-XIED vs ReCyclizer, +1200 injectors

I don’t remember exactly what setting I have on it, I think I tried different settings and left it on the recommended setting it came with. I’ll look when I shovel a path to my shed or the snow melts.

Re: Improving 2004 R1150R: AF-XIED vs ReCyclizer, +1200 injectors

I have a 2003 R with 114,000 miles, and installed the AF-XIED 3 years ago. It improved how the bike ran. The engine feels smother, more power in lower rpm’s and feels better all around. The occasional pinging has been reduced in warmer weather. Mileage is down slightly. The bike runs noticeably bett...

Thanks for setting up this years bash. Don't know if my schedule will work out for this year. TBD. Looks like it's a good area to ride. How close is a Dairy Queen?

Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

Made it home this afternoon after a damp ride home from Winchester. It was great to see everyone and glad that the weather mostly cooperated. The venue and riding in the area was fantastic. Looking forward to next year in Cumberland, MD. Thanks to everyone for making the annual dinner such a hit wit...

Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

Looks like I won't make it there tonight, Thursday. I have a slight electrical problem with the bike. All the lights go on and off intermittently. Just ask Mike. We passed each other and stopped with him last night in PA on the way down and he pointed out that I had a problem. All lights, headlight,...

Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

Looking forward to seeing you!

Mike, if Applebee's is walkable, I think that might be a better choice for Saturday nights dinner. I'll make a reservation for the group.

Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

Thanks Doc for the suggestion to have everyone bring some swag to raffle off at Saturday nights get together. Check with your local bike dealers and see if any of them would be willing to donate something, t-shirts, gear or a bike would be nice. If you have something around that is interesting, brin...

Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

Looking at the snow we got yesterday in Connecticut got me thinking of how nice it's going to be to get riding again and take a trip down to Lexington for some great riding. Haven't seen much activity about who is going. We all know that every year the Beakster Bash is a great excuse to go ride some...

Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

For those of you that are thinking of joining us at the Bash in Lexington and are not familiar with the area, Lexington is in the heart of some of the best motorcycling roads east of the Mississippi! Here is a link to Pohacontas County WV, http://www.pocahontascountywv.com, is just a short ride west...

Waiting for the contract to lock up 15 rooms at the Comfort Inn Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va. Dates are May 18 - 22. Should have the contract on Monday when I will have more information. There is a Country Cookin next door for fine dining and a Dairy Queen across the street.

Re: Beakster Bash XIV 2017

Working on some reasonable prices and a block of 15 rooms for 5/18 through 5/20 in Lexington, Va. The best locations with an Applebee's and a Dairy Queen next door are the Holiday Inn Express and the Best Western, and their rates so far are from $119 to 129 per night depending on the night. Could go...

Re: Beakster Bash XIV 2017

Best Western, Holiday Inn Express in the same parking lot and walking distance to Applebee's and a Diary Queen! Devils Backbone micro brewery is just d...

Re: Beakster Bash XIV 2017

I could see zeroing in on the area between Staunton and Wyethville. There is about a 2 hour ride difference between them north to south. It's more attractive to have a hotel located close to restaurants and ideally walking distance to them or on site like we had in Staunton and Marathon. Historicall...

Take Floyd out of the running. The Hotel Floyd is already heavily booked for that weekend. So back to Lexington or somewhere in the region.

Re: Beakster Bash XIV 2017

Doc, anywhere in the region between Staunton and Marion, VA and over into WV is prime riding. I was looking at Floyd, VA since I have seen several references to it online. The Riders Workshop uses Floyd as a stop on their invisible roads riding course. It is 96 miles further down the road from Lexin...
