I had a dealer install high and low beam. When switching between them it was hard to see the difference. I should have done low only.

Two years ago I had a set machined out of aluminum. The bring the handlebars up three inches and back three inches. The brake and clutch lines needed to be longer. It was a joy to ride without the pressure on my wrists.

I rode more in the winter than the other seasons because I had more time.

I bought the bike new in 2008. Max BMW offered a lower rear ratio from the stock 2.75 They offered 2.91 and 3.0 ratios. I wanted the lower gearing so I went with the 3.0 I found a used final drive on ebay and bought it, sent it to Max BMW and they installed the 3.0 gears and shipped it to me. It was...

The 3.0 final drive that I used for the last 2.5 years went bad. One person claims it did not have the red locktite on it. The gears went bad and so did the hub. The dealer that sold it does not appear to helping with the replacement both financially and finding the parts. The bike will be going up ...

The 3.0 was installed October of 2009 with 4500 miles on the bike.
It problem was discovered during a 12 K service at 13,200 miles.
So there were less than 9,000 miles on the rear. More to follow.

I wish I knew about them prior to having these made.

Today for the first time my hands did not go numb after riding for twenty minutes.
I rode for two hours and no numbness.
I just had riser/backs installed that moved the bars three inches up and three inches back.
Will send pictures over the weekend. It gives me a very neutral sitting position.

The rear was used for two years. I am looking up the mileage.
With the 2.75 at near red line first gear is 45MPH.
I wish it was half that speed.
The 3.0 will be repaired and reinstalled.

Going back to the 2.75 final drive. The 3.0 had a failure. Bike was in for the 12K checkup when this was discovered.
I plan on having it repaired and using it. Glad to have the 2.75 for a backup.

I am not sure if that is the GS final drive ratio. What I wanted is a lower first gear only. This was the easier way. This lower ratio drive works much better for me in stop and go traffic. I spoke to them and tried the tallest screen they had. My helmet sounded like a tornada.
