Brammo Empulse

Not enough capability yet to be a traveling bike, but definitely getting better: Electric motorcycle affordably reaches 100mph, 100 miles per charge -- Brammo's Empulse electric motorcycle has some advanced EV capabilities, but it should still impress gearheads. http://www.smartplanet.com/technology...

And we think the R's are quiet... Electric motorcycles are set to take off in 2010, and three West Coast startups are leading the pack. But will the macho motorcycle world accept bikes that run silently--and are sold and serviced at Best Buy? http://www.entrepreneur.com/magazine/entrepreneur/2010/ap...

"Green" apparel

Talk about the "green economy" or "green jobs" and most people think about energy efficiency or renewable energy. Another aspect of green is adopting designs from nature to new products (biomimicry). Here is an example of using biomimicry in a new helmet design to reduce head inj...

Re: Should I buy?

I used to own a Harley FXRT. In comparison: 1. The R1150R handles much better 2. Both has similar torque for low RPM take-offs (although the R's engine breaking is more pronounced and still catches me unawares at least once a year on a downshift. The engine shutoff on the kickstand gets me at least ...

Re: Green motorcyles?

I was thinking there is a market for a car stereo that makes your electric car (or motorcycle) sound like any hot rod engine you want. It would be coll to be able to change from a hemi to a Ferrari. And it definitely wold beat the booming noise I hear coming out of some cars at stoplights.

Re: Need route ideas: atlanta to Albany, NY

I live in the southern Catskiills, moved here from Albany and grew up in Poughkeepsie, so I know the NY piece a little. A lot will depend on where you come into NY and how much meandering you want to do. If you come into NY at Port Jervis, 209 is an OK 2 lane ride up to Kingston, then take 199 N ove...

The riding weather for my three days of the Bash -- getting there on Friday riding with everyone on Saturday, and heading home today -- were the same: three or more hours of dryness followed by three or more hours of rain. It was blast, but lets try for more dry time next year.
