Re: amsoil

Oil. Its black, slippery, and makes a mess of the oceans. Oh, and it costs too much, seems to be entirely too dangerous to ship around the world, but it DOES make the world go around these days. That's my opinion on oil.

Re: ? for BMW/Ztecknic Touring/Sport screen users

I've used the Ztecknic sport screen and repeatedly removing and reinstalling the screen, well-nuts and all and have never had a failure. I've had the bracket bolts work themselves loose multiple times though. Red-locktite is about the only thing that holds the brackets in place. If you lose a well-n...

Re: Possibly embarrassingly ignorant brake question.

Since no one seems to have paid attention to the first line of the original post, the bike is a 2005 roadster, so there are no rubber brake hoses, they are all braided steel, on all the 1150Rs after the 2004 model year. Bulging lines is nearly impossible, pad wear wouldn't lead to an as noticeable c...

Re: Skill vs Technology

I would like to throw this out because, as someone of my age (a wee little 22), I'm constantly on the wrong end of the "younger people are worse riders than older people" argument: Just because someone is young, or new to a given forum, doesn't mean they are automatically less experienced ...

Re: Oversteer on 04 R1150R

If you're new to the telelever front end of BMW's (some at least) then you may notice the front likes to dive into corners more when compared to a conventional front-end setup. Its much more noticeable at lower speeds. Its not much at it likes to fall into corners, but that normal bikes are more dif...

Re: Shooting my new Pistol

Okay, having shot a lot of .22 ammo in the past, 2 stovepipes in 70 shots on a new pistol, is nothing to be remotely worried about. .22 ammo is cheap, not manufactured to startling precision, and much more likely to have feeding and ejecting issues when compared to other rounds. Let the pistol get b...

Re: Shooting my new Pistol

I have a small apartment, but my nightstand gun is a Springfield XD45. I don't care if I shoot through the walls since I'm on the corner, and i'd have to be shooting the wrong way across my apartment to risk hitting my neighbors, after the bullet went through the wall, across my bedroom, and through...

Re: First Bike Accident.

Good thing it was a slow speed thing and someone behind you didn't do the same thing you did. Repairing the bike is only money, repairing the body is much more than that. I remember foothills from when I used to live In Aurora, and the multiple times we'd go up there from the Springs after we moved ...

Re: Replacing my 1150R

My biggest worry is the front suspension. I've heard some people griping about brake dive, but I worry more about the difference between the roadster's front end and the more 'standard' setup of the F800. I've been riding the boxer exclusively for two years now, and I'm a bit of a crazy on the twist...

Replacing my 1150R

Okay gents, its time to come out and say it. I'm selling the beast (my 04 r1150r) and lookign very hard at replacing it with an F800ST. I've heard good and bad about this bike but since I've never ridden the ST, just the S, I'll pose this question to those of you in the know: I'm still young, flexib...

Re: mirrors for r1150r

I'd love to sell you mine, but I'm in Afghanistan, and the bike is locked in a storage container until April, and no one I know lives close enough (and has the key) for it to be economical to have them go remove said mirrors. Have you tried beemerboneyard? I assume buying factory new ones would be c...

Re: Missing my air intake pipe on my 2005 R1150R. Bad?

Well, since there's nothing in it, it shouldn't do anything at all, but you might notice the bike running different. Did they break it off, or actually unscrew the fastener and remove it?

Re: Removing keyed ignition

No specific reason. I'll still keep the key for the bags and the helmet latch/seat release, just want to get rid of the key for the ignition portion of the bike.

Removing keyed ignition

Okay, so this is for the wiring guru's out there: Is there a way to remove the need for the key in the ignition to turn the bike on? I'm thinking something along the lines of wiring a switch to work in place of the switch the key activates, and so remove the need for a key to star the bike. PS. Thos...

Re: Any alternative to that @#$% airbox?

It is a fact that removing the airbox and replacing the latter with coned filters you'll loose power and torque ... That is a proven fact and tested on many bikes. And this has nothing to do with removing (or moving) the sensors. Not 100% true. Sure, the way the boxermania had his set up was less t...

Re: Any alternative to that @#$% airbox?

My R1150R mods consisted of 1st internally relieving the muffler internals and it dyno tested at 80.3 rear wheel HP. Either you cutting breathing holes in the muffler did absolutely nothing to your power, or by replacing the cat and pipe with a freer flowing exhaust, I was able to increase power to...

Re: Any alternative to that @#$% airbox?

Boxermania's 1150R had the airbox removed. He'd be the best one to ask about this. I'd like to do it just for the looks and because I want to put a storage box of some flavor in it's spot.
