Yes. The arrow (triangle) should point toward the front when the caliper is installed.

Anton Largiader is THE man for such work. Here a link to an article he wrote on the subject; http://bmwra.org/otl/final-drives If it was mine I would send it to him and have it done right. Proper shimming is critical. http://vamotorrad.com/benchwork/

How much fuel you put in depends on how much fuel is already in the tank. How do you determine when you need fuel?

Re: Need a bigger tank!
The 850R and 1100R use the same tank, with a capacity of 21l (5.547 US Gal.) One part number = one tank!

Never heard of an ABS gas tank. There is only one part number listed for the R1100R gas tank.

I don't know if you already mentioned this in this thread, but does your rear brake disc still heat up? Do you think that made a mileage difference? I ask because my front discs stay cool, but rear disc does heat up considerably. Maybe I use the rear brake too much? I think the rear disk is absorbi...

Re: This may be a "sensitive topic"...
I don't know if it will work with the R1150R but a trick with the R1100R is to put a spacer under the front seat bracket. I did it with my R1100R and raised the bracket about 3/8", it levels the seat quite a bit.

My preferred source for parts of that nature is BeemerBoneyard http://www.beemerboneyard.com/
Mike is a super nice guy too. I'm not sure if he will ship overseas but you could ship to a U.S. location for pick up here.

Re: R1100R Aero Flow aerogards
I have a set that I use in cold weather. They do help but the Velcro mounting system leaves a lot to be desired. I made brackets to hook around the lip on the gas tank at the top and clamps to fit the engine protection bars on the bottom. I can't help with pictures since they are not on the bike at ...

The most important part of the procedure is this;
"IF YOU HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WITH YOUR BIKE, LEAVE IT ALONE!"
I would just check the TPS voltage before making any adjustments.

Re: Cold blooded R1100R
Since it is new to you I would torque the heads, adjust the valves, remove and clean the BBS (Big Brass Screws on the throttle bodies) and then sync the throttle bodies. To clean the BBS I would use Carb & Choke cleaner, also clean the hole they come out of. Before removing them turn them in all...

Re: R1100R new to me
The pump was not making a noise when i turnrd on the key, so i checked the fuses and found one had blown. I replaced it and the pump started up when I turned the key. THere are 2 rubber fuel hoses that run from the tank. The lower one i would guess is the feed and the other is the return, These att...

Just turn the ignition on. Do you hear the fuel pump run? If not make sure you plugged it in when you put the tank on. It is a black plug on the right side just up under the tank.

The round portion of the R1100R bars that the grips go on is steel, no problem.joelh wrote:Where did you read about the aluminum handlebar issue? I had not read that and am hoping it won't be an issue.

Re: Heated Grips for 96 R1100R?
Just ordered a pair. Is there an easy way to hook up to a switched power source, rather than wiring directly to the battery? As I mentioned in my post above I used the existing BMW switch and wiring on my 2000 R1100R. The connection is under the gas tank. I don't know if the '96 wiring harness is t...
