Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

Epilog The next couple of days went pretty smoothly, the only fly in the ointment was that I wanted to stop at Cooper's BBQ in Llano. I was thinking about one of their pork chops all morning. I get there around 1pm on a Sunday and the line is around the block (almost). Ugh. Not gonna happen. I ride ...

Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

A dear friend and (former?) member of this forum told me today that she reads the ride report here, on 1150, because comments don't get in the way, or something like that. Thought that was pretty funny, and true. Sometimes irony is funny. I do post this elsewhere where there's lots more traffic. :D ...

Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

There was a time, when, Peace I could not find. Nothin’ to call my own; No job, no car, no home; Lived in a one room shack, All I had was the clothes on my back; Used to be my only plan was to have a bottle in my hand; Lookin’ back now I see, somebody was watchin’ over me. Somebody was a watchin’. ...

Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far Behind me Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me * Actually on this Over the Rainbow morning I am found at the Best Western in Oakdale. I do the religious gymnastic ceremony of c...

Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

The Bay area and the coast are in my mirrors and it’s time for some busy work. http://jld2.smugmug.com/Blanche-Out-West-May-2015/i-j2Vj8ZZ/0/X2/Out%20West%202015-150-X2.jpg I wanted to visit the Corbin factory for a "ride in" rebuild of my Corbin seat. It came with Blanche and it was accus...

Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

Yes... the rains... You saw that, huh? You saw the lovely weather that greeted me the next morning? Look at the bike cover? It could have been a metaphorical microcosm of my mood as I try to decide which way is ah-hmm, “best.” I don't want to wait anymore I'm tired of looking for answers Take me som...

Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

Travels with Blanche DuBois: The Robert Johnson Ride

Robert Johnson made a deal with the Devil. Sold his soul to play the guitar. I took a ride, almost made a deal with God to keep me alive. Thumbs up to those writers of the reports that inspire and motivate and get others on the road. It’s an effort, though when pushed by mood, it starts to roll. The...

Re: Just bought a basketcase Rockster

The Edition 80 is a beautiful bike. Did you change out the quick disconnects for the fuel lines and make certain that no parts of the wiring are flexing, esp up under the triple tree. If not, you need to do that next. The OEM quick disconnects will fall apart and the wires will flex enough that they...

Re: Pack your guns, the 2016 Bash will be in Waco

Hill country is same ballpark but far drier and less wooded. Turns and steepness are similar, but there are also lots of fast sweeper roads. Definitely fun riding and maybe a little looser in feel than WV. WV has some good stuff. So does Hill Country. Hill Country is worth a trip. And it has a weste...

Re: Pack your guns, the 2016 Bash will be in Waco

Not wanting to be obstreperous but what kind of riding/terrain is in Waco? I always thought texas was flat and boring. not Hill Country. The Twisted Sisters are legendary for a reason. Other roads are very worthwhile also, but 335, 336 and 337 usually rightly hog the limelight. Look at the terrain ...

Re: Pack your guns, the 2016 Bash will be in Waco

Cool! I may be able to make that one.
Really? DQ and Sonic are the culinary delights?

An extra day in Hill Country should be considered, or, do you think Wacco is close enough? It's a purty fair piece. 260 mi to Laekey, closer to Fredricksburg. The Twisted Sisters are between the two.

Re: Externalizing the fuel filter

There's an xls file somewhere that shows how to do it, it's easy, but a pita, then it's done and voila! I think SweatMark posted it years back and it has all the detail and pictures you need. Thanks SweatMark. I am shouting this: YOU NEED TO USE GOOD FUEL INJECTION TUBING. ANYTHING ELSE WILL "M...

Re: Lamp warning

OT, but sort of related...

The power to the low beam can be used to trigger a relay (for accessories) so that the accessories will not be powered on during cranking, increasing the load.
